News About This Theater
- Apr 23, 2014 — World Premiere in Wind Gap
The Gap Theatre opened in 1947. It is located at 47 Broadway (Route 512) in Wind Gap, PA, just north of Allentown.
The Gap Theatre was owned and operated by Joe Farruggio of the Amos theatre chain. The screen is large and curved, with the full scope aspect ratio. There is also stadium seating. The projector is genuine Brenkert. The marquee is being restored with neon.
The Gap Theatre was an affordable, fun place to see a first-run movie! It was closed on January 24, 2020. It is planned to reopen in late-fall of 2024.

Here is the web site for the GAP. I put a few pictures on it.

I spoke to Joe and he informed me the GRAND-RE OPENING is scheduled for Friday November 6th!
It seems as though the website is no more, however they do maintain a Facebook presence:

Is this theatre a twin screen? The marquee shows #s 1&2.
No One screen. The marque #2 slot. is showing the time. Now a 2nd movie
I went to the theater and saw the night at the museum three Secrets of the tomb. The theater has a very nice look, the 50s style As it was open in 1947. Big screen, slightly curved, Sounds very good and clear. They are still running movies in 35mm. Studios still sending out some limited prints. But they hope to get a digital projector in the near future. They’re having a lot of live shows on the weekends, local bands. They are open Friday through Sunday at this time. Down to this great classic theater Great place to see a movie, admission price only seven dollars for first run movie. Concession stand lots of yummy candy, hot fresh popcorn cold cold drinks.
The Morning Call of Allentown PA reported yesterday that “Bill Reese, owner of the longstanding Gap Theatre in Wind Gap, announced that the theater would be closing in a Friday (Jan. 24) post on the business’ Facebook page.” The article said that the Gap’s phone number had been disconnected.
Marque recently has “Reopening Soon”. I was driving by a few weeks ago and saw some activity inside. Wish them luck!
Saw lights on inside last night and stopped in. Met the couple opening it up, said they are aiming for before the holidays. Wished them luck and looking forward to seeing some retro shows.
