The housing and strip mall have just been approved. It’s official, the Edgemere is being redeveloped. The groundbreaking is slated for this summer.

This drive-in was one of the few locations anywhere that installed 70MM machines. There were 4 machines in the booth. I do not know if they ever ran a 70MM print. One of the projectionists was Jerry Turtoro who told me that at one time he had all 4 machines working but running 35MM. I was in the Springfield union and knew some the Worcester operators.

1000 cars. Was for sale in 1999. Closed in 2000, reopened in 2002. Plans for a strip mall and housing on the site.

U.S. 20 & Lake St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in, which was on the south side of US 20.

This is a 1986 photo. It looks like the city is misidentified.

Back in the late 90s, this was also a Flea Market during the daytime, on the weekend :–)

Located on Boston Post Road, also know as Route 20, in Shrewsbury, this old drive-in looks mighty tired. I suspect if someone had the money, and the desire, it could be revived. But my understanding is you’d have to pry the deed from the hands of the Boston Culinary Group, who are not too willing to sell, as I understand it. Also in a rough area, which could be a damper.
