The Palace was built by the local Masonic Lodge, who had their quarters in the third floor until the early 1970s. The building was designed by architect Alan J. MacDonough (some sources give the spelling McDonough, but the Society of Architectural Historians and the University of Virginia Press prefer the “Mac” spelling, so I’m inclined to follow their practice.)
1945 postcard added courtesy Jane Bay. Below link shares some Palace Theatre recollections, including it’s being built in 1922 as a silent film theatre.

That’s is My Parents Studio , Does any body know if any body passed away in this building different people have felt spirits in this building on the right-hand side of the stage a ghostly woman in the ladies restroom and at the bar the cabinets will open and shut on there own.
Here is a picture from August 2010.
I was in the Palace today. It is being remodeled to be a dance studio, and the floor has been leveled. The stage is being kept, and the owner is doing a beautiful job of restoration, including the installation of period light fixtures.
