It’s not reopening and will be part of the next-door art gallery. https://patch.com/pennsylvania/pittsburgh/final-curtain-comes-down-regent-square-theater

According to the Ed Blank article 71dude linked to earlier, the Regent Square Theatre opened on December 15, 1936.
Re-opening on Oct. 27, with a weekend of horror films for all ages, and some with a local angle!
The Regent Square is (hopefully) temporarily closed right now (Aug 2017) due to technical and financial issues. Here’s an article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the topic:

The “Operated By” (chain) should be Pittsburgh Filmmakers.
This Theatre is on The Swissvale border in the Regent Square neighborhood. It Does Not have ANYTHING (Nor was it named after the “Regent” in East Liberty. When I lived in Swissvale I used to walk to the place often. The last movie a saw here was “The Crow” with Brandon Lee.
71 Dude, that was a good article by Ed Blank. Thanks for posting it. I went to the Regent Square the other night to see “Animal KIngdom” and I’m gonna return next week to see the “Mesrine” series.
I encourage all film fans to support the Regent Square. They show movies that you just can’t see elsewhere.
Here is a profile Ed Blank did of this theater in 1987:

My Girl Posse and I went here recently to see “Anvil, The Story of Anvil” which is a documentary on an aging metal band from Canada. Not quite “Spinal Tap” (because the band does exist), it still has its funny moments.

This theatre is going on hiatus until after Thanksgiving. They will then be showing MY KID COULD PAINT THAT. I enjoy the films shown here, at the Manor, and the Squirrel Hill.
Here is a recent picture of the Regent Square.
