Cineplex Odeon Queensway Cinemas is the flagship theatre for the Cineplex Entertainment theatre chain. Located in the Etobicoke district, the theatre opened in November 16, 2001 and since then has been among the busiest theatres in Canada.
The theatre contained eighteen screens (all eighteen equipped with stadium seating, curved screens and Dolby Digital sound), with THX in the four largest auditoriums (1, 9, 10 and 18). The theatre also features a Cinescape arcade, Disney themed birthday party room and VIP rooms, specialty food choices (Pizza Pizza, Yogen Fruz and Café).
The theatre is also surrounded by a massive (free) parking lot that only fills completely during the busiest of times. There are now 20 screens.

This was to be built by Cinemark in the late 1990’s but they pulled out.
To add hdtv267: Queensway is spliced into 15 screens/auditoriums. The last 3 auditoriums were lost into the VIP Cinemas with the newer two VIP theatres added. Total screens is 20 (15 regular + 5 VIP).
And it’s now been re-branded as Cineplex Cinemas Queensway & VIP
Noticed on the Cineplex web site today that the VIP price is now listed at $19.99 instead of the $24.99 that was listed when it was opened.

Saw Jersey Boys in the new VIP over the weekend. Definitely an indulgence, and the $24.99 admission keeps the knuckle-dragging folk who need to talk during the movie at a minimum! It should be noted that these VIP theaters are not “screening rooms” but full-sized theaters with big, cushy reclining seats. These VIP’s make the VIP screening rooms at the Varsity look like utility closets.
I’ve noticed that it’s only $24.99 on weekends. During the week it’s $19.99 and on Tuesdays $14.99 I guess they’ve come a long way since the Varsity ones opened back in 1999. Will have to try them out someday.
Since Cineplex Odeon disappeared as an independent entity by 1998, this theatre was part of Loews Cineplex when it opened in 2001. Cineplex Galaxy acquired this theatre in 2003.
This theatre opened on November 16, 2001, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Shallow Hal, Heist, Life as a House, The One, Monsters, Inc., Domestic Disturbance, K-Pax, Century Hotel, and Amelié.
This was to be built by Cinemark (i think Tinseltown Toronto), but the land was sold to Cineplex Odoen.
