The 8th Street Marketplace Cinemas opened by Plitt Theatres on December 14, 1979. It was part of the 8th Street Marketplace. Cineplex Odeon took over in 1988. It was closed by Loews Cineplex on January 4, 2001. It was reopened on March 22, 2002 as a discount house. It closed in 2003. It was demolished in 2004 to make way for the ‘BODO’ (BOise DOwntown) complex which will have retail a new movie theatre in its place.

Plitt theatres opened the 8th Street Marketplace Cinemas on December 14th, 1979, with “The Jerk” and “Kramer Vs. Kramer”. There were plans for Cineplex Odeon to replace this with a 16-plex in the style of the St. Bruno Cinemas near Montréal for 1998 but cancelled after they heard of the Edwards megaplex.
