In my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac it is was not listed under Martin theatres so it was not part of that chain.Even though Martin ran two Drive-ins there.
Hirsh and Jones were the architects of the Houston Theatre which launched on July 3, 1930. The theater opened with the DeForest sound system. The opening film was “So This is London” with Will Rogers.
Operated by Martin Theatres per Film Daily Yearbook of 1940.
Closed by Davis Theatres in 1969 as the Northside Twin and Village theatres opens.
I contacted the library in Dothan and was told that the Houston theatre was at 221 North Foster Street.
