An early photo of the Diamond Theatre appeared in A Souvenir History of Hazleton, published in 1914. Scan at Google Books
The September 17, 1917 issue of Motography said that “[t]he Diamond Theater at Hazelton was destroyed by fire. Loss about $2,000.” The reported destruction was apparently somewhat exaggerated.
Closed in mid-October 1969.
Why was it called The Diamond when it was on Alter St. Diamond Ave was a few blocks away.
