Opened in 1925 as a silent movie house. Converted to a “talkie” movie house after the explosion of popularity in motion pictures, the venue today supports live music, plays, and other vibrant community gatherings. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This theater is owned by the Kesey family of Eugene. Ken Kesey is the now deceased patriarch of that family and was the leader of the Merry Pranksters and the bus Furthur that was immortalized in Tom Wolffe’s, Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.
The theater is in foreclosure and may sold at auction next week:

I saw and photographed the exterior of the McDonald week-before-last. It is in operation as a concert venue.
