The Grand Theater is located in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. The Main Street address is not to be confused with Main Street in downtown Springfield. This wooden structure served as a neighborhood movie house since the early 20th Century. In fact, one 1909 historical picture has the Grand Theatre advertising “pictorial vaudville”.
Closed in the early-1990’s, currently a religious denomination uses this theater for services.

As my original post states in the first sentence, the Grand Theater IS located in Indian Orchard. I would assume, after reading my post, that my info stating that the place is used by a religious denomination could be considered a church.
Is it still for sale?… i’ve called the realestate company listed several times and haven’t received a phone call either way…..
Saw a movie there in the 1980’s – interesting design – probably 700 seats all on one level, a flat wooden floor. Building had exposed slamnted wooden beams in the ceiling looked like it had been fairly recently renovated. I can see why it became a church later.
The Grand in Indian Orchard is listed in the 1927 Film Daily Yearbook as having 460 seats and open 7 days per week.
There is a photo of the former Grand Theatre on this page.
Here is a close-up of the marquee.
Behind the shallow, brick-walled front of the theater, which looks like a later addition, the main, wooden section of the theater looks as though it might have been built as a church. I wonder if this building has come full circle?
