Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? Would you believe Metro Police Sgt. Fred Cobb? The July 18, 1966, edition of The Tennessean describes an incident during a showing of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolff?” the previous night at Crescent Cinerama. Sgt. Cobb stopped the film midway through, confiscated a film reel and arrested the theater’s manager. That started a week of events for the controversial film.
