71 Dude, that was a good article by Ed Blank. Thanks for posting it. I went to the Regent Square the other night to see “Animal KIngdom” and I’m gonna return next week to see the “Mesrine” series.
I encourage all film fans to support the Regent Square. They show movies that you just can’t see elsewhere.
Per your comment about Village Theatres, another person on this site said he believes that Village might have started out with good intentions but they had a lousy business plan.
It’s amazing that the Village North, North Riverside, and Bloomingdale Court made it out of Village alive and are doing well.
Anything ever happen to the Foxfield? Is it still sitting abandoned? Maybe someone could reopen it as a second run, ala Picture Show at Bloomingdale (f.k.a. Bloomingdale Court).
This entry needs to be changed. Drury Lane is no longer at Water Tower. They are solely at Oakbrook now.
This theatre is now known as Broadway Playhouse and it’s run by Broadway in Chicago. It will be closed until September 2010 for renovations. The website at least temporarily is www.broadwayinchicago.com
When I went to the Burnham Plaza with my husband a few years ago, the guy at the ticket office told me the closure date. Knowing the half-assed way Village does business, I wouldn’t be surprised either way.
When I called the LV 1-6 on the phone the other day, just out of curiosity, they said that they have valet parking? Can anyone confirm whether or not they actually do? Apparantly, they have also worked out a deal with someone else besides Home Depot for parking.
I hope that MSG can do a better job of booking the theatre. What has kept it busy has been the revival of “Shear Madness.” But that’s only playing in the basement and is a terrible under-use of the space. Yeah, it’s probably bringing in some money. But the big shows seem to go elsewhere.
Have the Oriental and Cadillac Palace taken bookings from the Chicago? I heard that the Chicago is too small for today’s big shows.
I wonder what will happen to this building. Does anyone seriously believe that it will be used as a cinema again? The only time I was in here..well, it didn’t look dirty, but it smelled musty. I also don’t know what else can go into this space.
I agree with what someone said above. I hope that they don’t tear it down, along with Mitchell’s Restaurant next door. When I take my niece and nephew to the zoo or the Historical Society, we always eat lunch at Mitchell’s!
I agree with what Paul above says. The Lawndale has reopened and its status should be changed to “open”.

My father says this place was once known as the Ferrara-Manor (when it was a banquet hall).

All the time I’ve gone past this building, I never knew it had a movie theatre.
On line reviews are now showing it as Visionary Theatres.

I did, however, hear such a rumor and I was wondering what the others on this site have heard!

Village has not updated its website for the Lincoln Village 1-6 and the Bloomingdale Court. The Village North and the Glenwood have been updated.

Is this theatre still open? I’ve tried calling the number listed on Village’s website and all it does is ring ad infinitum!
