The theatre must have remained open until sometime around 1964 because I saw MOONSPINNERS there with Hayley Mills (I was not dating Ms.Mills at the time). I did not see many films here, as I lived in Winona.
OPENED CHRISTMAS 1940. Effective NOVEMBER 2022, new owners closing cinema for 16 months for renovations pending approval of Town Counsel. Plans include re-model into a three-plex, new washrooms, new Barco projectors, QSC sound, JBL Speakers and new seats. Open December 2023 or April 2024.
New 2006 Owner/Operator … Premiere Operating Corp of Don Mills, Ontario. Remodeled now with 3 screen and new playground and other new equipment everywhere.
Yes. There was a balcony beside the Union Projection Room but in the 1970-80’s it was closed to the public – no seats. I remember seeing many big screen classics before VHS. I’ll post some pictures soon from Ontario Archives.
