I had never noticed, but you’re right. In the really old pictures there is a Pepsi sign. I looked back at all of my pictures and they say Coke. I only remember selling Coke products. Maybe they sold Pepsi for a while when the theater opened.
I could not find any pictures of the theatre that I could positively identify. I did find these pictures of some of the employees in 1984. Sure wish I knew whatever happened to them…
I’ll have to look and see. The bad thing about this theatre is that it had the same concession area as a couple of other theatres my husband worked at in Florida. I’ll have to be careful and make sure I have the right one :)
500??? That would keep you busy for a while! LOL I was surprised to see so many messages last night. It did get me motivated to get back on here. I didn’t really want a copy of the film, but the last time we got together Bill talked like it was something he really wanted to show us.
I just feel so bad about that. Does he still have the film he wanted to show us? We need to get together for that. I would like to see the video you made of old reunions. I think us girls could handle it :)
I never even pretended to manage here. My husband was the manager! By the time these movies came out Judy might have been managing. You remember, you met her at the reunion — Cathy’s friend???
I love this theatre! It opened in the summer of 1984 and Robert Presnell was the manager. I think he had been the manager at one of Plitt’s theatres in South Carolina. When we got back to Atlanta after our wedding in July of 84, my husband found out that he had been transfered to Mall Corners. (I guess Mr. Anderson didn’t want to work with him anymore) I was on “suspension” from Plitt and collecting unemployment, so I had lots of time to just hang around here. I learned how to run projectors and typed their paperwork every week. I helped out in concession if they were really swamped and I might have sold a ticket or two. I COULD NOT BE SEEN WORKING!!! LOL
Wow…stuff like that just can’t be replaced. That’s so sad. Well, I am home now. They finished the AC today. Now I have to start a court case. Fun, fun, fun…Do you have a show next weekend?
Yea…Im still at my brothers…probably close to you Mike :) I hope to be back home later this week. When I get there I will be having a big cookout for whoever wants to come. Ill invite Bill and at least have him some pictures made. BTW...I sell on EBAY...Ill be on the lookout for movie items from this area
Oh Mike…what a shame! I guess that`s just another reason for us to share copies and post online as much as we can. Do you know if they took the picture I gave him? I can always have another one made for him.
Im sorry, I cant see everything that is going on here. I can only get on the internet on my cell phone. My ac is still out and I have not been able to live in my house for almost 3 weeks. It has turned into a legal matter now. Hope to be back soon.

Hahaha…no, I had retired and moved to Jacksonville, Florida by that time!
I know what you mean. I can’t help but think about the Hilltop every time I go over to North Augusta.
My Dad worked at all of the downtown theatres at one time or another. He worked at the drive ins too.
I put something over there for you Mike …one of my favorite theatres…
