Just saw star wars in dolby here. I got some issues. The Exit sign glows red on the bottom left of the screen, that’s fine, I get it. But there’s this light on the main floor, before you walk up the stairs, that goes across the whole auditorium, left to right. It’s blue, and I guess for people to see where they walk. What happens is, though, it projects the shadows of the first row going down in the front. You could see people’s heads and seats during the opening Crawl and every dark space scene. IDK if they can turn that light off due to safety, but it projects a giant shadow of all the seats. Has anyone else seen this?
This one had stadium seating in a regular screen I saw Playing With Fire in, I think it was screen 3. I think each screen has stadium seating here. I’m waiting for Frozen 2 to leave the XD here. I saw it already with family and don’t wanna see it again. I’ll have to try the Watchung one someday after this one.
Nice. I saw the seat count myself when getting tickets for Play with Fire. I’ll be going there today so I’ll report back. They’re really playing up the “Pizza Hut” part in the marketing, IDK why but it’s probably a last ditch effort for the pizza place.
Looks like they got tables and stuff too BTW. Should’ve been a dine in if possible. My theater isn’t the XD one so I can’t report on that, but I may just walk in when Frozen 2 is playing to see what it looks/sounds like. I’m excited. I love new theaters.
I still remember going to Eagle Eye opening weekend and being shocked at how SMALL the IMAX was. It was the same price as lincoln square at the time but was tiny. They even gave a questionnaire out at the end I remember, I wrote how I hated how small the screen was. I have NEVER been back to that IMAX.
Holy crap they were UNprepared for Avengers this weekend imo. Lines out the door. One old lady with one scanner marking tickets. 2-3 food registers open that took 5 min or longer each. JESUS this theater needs some help. I LEGIT saw in the mens room a toilet with a rag stuffed down it to make it overflow, on Friday at 5pm. Like WTF. gross.
Popcorn cold. Food that takes a while too to cook and get because the workers just don’t give a f. PLEASE AMC help this theater. I know this weekend was an exceptionally bad one but this is just bad overall imo.
OH. And the ticket woman kept saying “pull your tickets up” or “send them to your friend to get in” but the theater has ZERO CELL SERVICE. IDK how but it’s a complete dead zone when you get in. I kept trying to get my rewards open for my cold popcorn but i gave up and just paid full price. zero cell service here
I emailed them March 8th, the SAME day their website changed about remodels. Showtimes are still full to the brim so I don’t they’ve closed any screens yet.
This is what I got back on March 8th, can’t believe it’s finally happening! I love AMC West Orange but would love a closer dine-in theater.
“Yes we are still going to remodel this location, we will have more information soon. Our Mansfield location has started their remodel and we are next.
In Northern NJ ALONE, you can to the AMC Paramus, Clifton, Rockaway, and Elizabeth theaters all within 20 miles of each other, and have dolby and imax.
For IMAX, go to Paramus, they have the largest. For Dolby, go to Elizabeth, they turn off those hallway lights unlike other dolby’s and are the newest one out.
no news about a remodel in years. AMC just renovated the willowbrook mall theater down the road and cinemark is opening up later this year a mile futher. This theater needs an upgrade badly
Probably the BEST Dolby Cinema I’ve been to and I’ve tried a few. They’ve completely fixed every issue I think other Dolby’s have. This is my new favorite one. Has anyone else tried it yet?
wait, I’m sorry I’m a little behind, so First Man isn’t on film in the IMAX theater here? It’s digital imax laser here but will still fill the whole screen? Why didn’t they make film prints?
This will be 1 of 4 theaters in the country to get a IMAX re-release of The Dark Knight for its anniversary in on August 24th. Wonder if they’re gonna do laser for the print or stick to 70mm.
heard they got new recliner seats that are smaller now. haven’t tried them yet but are really new, like within the past month type new. I bet they are like the smaller recliners in east hanover or morristown
They may have split it but only in the past 5 years they renovated everything to make it a dine in but the projection seems to be top notch all the time
@alpinedownhiller what’s your opinion of West Orange, if you’ve been there, if you don’t mind me asking? The bulbs there seem to be bright and new since the renovation. This theater should totally have a dolby screen. I think they should take 2 of the 3 in the basement out and put the dolby there
I agree with everything you said and recommend you try the AMC West Orange Dine In. It’s COMPLETELY different. I’m shocked they’re trying this out. I went there to see Kingsman 2 and it was so different compared to the west orange dine in.
For one, ordering the food in concession stands lines is a bad idea for dine in. It took 20-30 min for a wait and then a whole hour into the movie for us to get out food in take out containers. At least West orange has waiters at your seats and real plates and forks and napkins. We got plastic-ware and 1 tissue as a napkin.
The seats are smaller than the recliners in West Orange (you can see alone by reserved seating charts). It seems like they wanted to squeeze as much seats in as possible. AND children are allowed in every theater while West Orange only lets them in the 18+ ones, not the reclining 21+ ones.
I had to carry everything to my seat myself except my main order while all this is taken care of in west orange. They bring everything you there. This may sound like nitpicking, but it’s a huge difference between here and west orange and is a big reason I’d choose West Orange over this place. Plus, I’d imagine traffic will be pretty bad during rush hour times here.
This movie may be great but audiences aren’t in the serious, sad war movie mode right now. With “Girls Trip"s $30 million opening I think it just shows people are craving laughs. Sure, the die hard fans and film lovers saw Dunkirk but it won’t have any legs in a few weeks imo. Heck, I’d prefer to see Valarian right now as it’s just not as depressing imo
anyone know the dolby aspect ratio here?

From the service manager himself when I asked near the end of november in an email about the renovations,
“We are still in the planning stage of renovations, hopefully the construction will start soon.”

Brand new. Has anyone been here yet?
no updates yet….
Gemini Man is playing in HFR in AMC Prime. Going tonight. Wonder how it’ll compare to other premium HFR.
are the lights on the whole movie?

Has anyone tried Dreamscape yet? What is it, exactly??

AMC has a few in NJ with BOTH Dolby and IMAX.

anyone know the size of the imax here and how it compares? I know paramus I think is the largest, just curious about this sized one.
