You mentioned The Exorcist….I’m pretty sure this video has a picture of The Embassy Theatre, CC Plaza 1973. The picture is at 1:30 into the video and only lasts 3 seconds so pause it to see it.

I worked there for about four years, 69-72 when it was Dickinson Theatre. Fun job, taking tickets and working concession stand. The Dickinson corporate office was right around the corner. Every night I, or someone, would take the daily boxoffice report to the corporate office and slide it thru the glass doors. We also carried the nightly bank deposit bag down the street to the bank night deposit. LOL can you imagine doing that now.
I went to the grand opening of the current event space business. The inside is gutted and pretty sterile. The only thing inside that is original is the glass blocks that were on the concession stand. Now a bar
The picture above is Kansas City Union Station lobby. The theatre is on the lower level of Union Station. The theatre can not be seen from street view.
I believe the address for the Roanoke Theatre would have been 811 or 813 West 39th Street. It is now a parking lot. In the picture, there is a building on the left and a house on the right that are still there. Here is a little better picture …. http://kcur.org/post/walk-down-midtowns-memory-lane-these-historic-kansas-city-photos
here is what i see at that address.

In reading about this beautiful theatre, I got the idea hat the auditorium was torn down but the entrance and lobby was saved to be used for a new office building. I just googled the address and I see only a vacant lot with a fence. The lot is big enough to have had a theatre. No sign of the theatre entrance. sad.
In 1923, the Kansas City Athletic Club acquired an unfinished, 22-story building at Eleventh Street and Baltimore Avenue , former location of the Willis Wood Theater. In 1932, however, during the Great Depression, the Continental Hotel Company took over the 22-story clubhouse, leaving only the six topmost floors devoted to the club itself. For a period in the 1960s, the hotel contained a branch of the Playboy Club. In 1982, the building was remodeled and renamed as the Mark Twain Tower, an office building. The club retaining the rights to the top six floors.
The Seville Theatre was on the CC Plaza but NOT just around the corner from the Plaza Theatre. The Plaza was at one end of the CC Plaza and Seville was at the opposite end, about 5 blocks apart. The Seville Theatre was in the basement of the Seville Square Building. Next to the theatre was a Longbranch Salloon. Originally the building was a Sears.
I believe UMKC is building a new building for the Conservatory of Music and Dance close to the Kauffman Center.
The Lyric Theatre was purchased by DST Systems, Inc.
I remember the Ranch Mart Theatre as a Commonwealth Theatres. Someone asked what happened to the Ranch Mart. Here is the info… Oddly this article does not say the name Ranch Mart Theatre.
The Leawood is still open

I transferred to Springfield, Mo from KCMO to manage the Fox Theatre in 1974. It was a Mann Theatre. I was 21 years old. Very fun times. Someone mentioned Tyndall Lewis. “Lewis” was manager of the Gillioz Theatre and a great friend of mine. When I managed the Fox, it showed mostly Disney type films. One film I remember was Herbie Rides Again (1974). We had a real Volkswagon with Herbie decals parked on the sidewalk in front of the theatre. It had a microphone and speaker so we (the car) could talk to people walking by. I was told that in the Fox basement, artists used to paint all the theatre posters for almost all Springfield theatres.

This building will be revamped into a YMCA. Very sad.

The theatre was not doing good business at the time of the fire. Odd how fires seem to start in businesses that are losing money.
