Amazing how many seats the theater had and at times there were actually sell-outs
Too bad because they had made some nice improvements to the seats.
It is supposedly going to be completely renovated very shortly.
Think it is all over.
One thing for certain is that it will never again be a movie theater.
Any chance the theater will re-open?
Whatever happened to Tinseltoes who always used to post on this site?
This venue is actually open?
For many years the outsde wall of the building had the Orpheum name on it. (in the 50’s)
Another lost cause here!
Saw 15 chapters of a Batman serial there in one day in the 1960’s. J Carroll Nash played a Japanese villian.
Looks like a lost cause!
The small three theater location in Kinnelon now calls itself an “art theater”
Nothing ever happens at that theater Time to throw in the spomge!
It’s strange. If the people who complained about the demise of so many theaters had gone more often, maybe the theaters would still be around.
Thanks!
Is the theater still open?. Last picture says “done”
The place became so run down in it’s later years that it was amazing that it remained open for so long. A very shoddy theater before being closed.
You have to realize that the generation of today, for the most part, could care less about the neigborhood theaters that existed years ago. They never knew what it was like, so they have no interest in it.
How true
It’s amazing when you realize how many RKO and Loew’s theaters there were in so many local neighborhoods and basically they are all gone.
Hard to belive how times have changed.
Do you really care what happened on a particular night almost 70 years ago?
Wonderful old theater with perhaps a lobby remaining. Big deal!
It’s amazing when you realize how many local movie theaters have closed down over the years. Rather sad!
Do you think that a promise to “restore” the lobby means that the theater is saved. Not as far as I am concerned.
