The only thing I did not like was Buena Vista only showed movies secondary their priority was to do live stage shows they had no concession stand whatsoever to movies I saw here cat-o’-nine-tails and Beware the Blob! but I still enjoyed going!
Someone in the comment section said that they closed the theater in 72 they didn’t the last movie I saw there was High Plains Drifter with Clint Eastwood which I believe was in 73 or maybe 74 I lived close by I spent my Saturdays there every week
I don’t mean trying to overstep somebody’s shoes but this theater was not closed in 67 I went there as a child they showed movies for $.35 when I first started going there and they showed movies all the way up to High Plains Drifter was the last one that I saw there but they played movies it was a movie theater
It re-opened maybe a year or two later and started showing movies again it was probably close towards the end of the 70s when it started doing the rock videos and soundstage I grew up here I remember when they had a baby soundproof booth I loved sitting up in the balcony. first movie I saw here I believe was a Sonny and Cher movie I can’t remember what the title was but I went to see the movie Billy Jack probably 50 times here and The Planet of the Apes.
This is where I saw the movie The Blob with Steve McQueen went here every week every Saturday this is where I spent my allowance they had the best buttered popcorn they used real butter not the crap they serve now
This is where I saw Papillon and The Getaway with McQueen five times And The Great Waldo Pepper! with Redford I loved to go there. The last movie I saw there was Any which Way You Can with Clint Eastwood.
Myself and my whole family went to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid here if I remember correct that was my first movie at Park Plaza I had quite a few memories here sorry I had to be demolished
I spent a lot of my childhood seeing movies like Jaws which I saw probably 60 times at this theater also French Connection II Bad News Bears and I could go on and on and on Ahhh The Enforcer with Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry!
This was the best theater to see the thing in it scared me to death when the blood jumped out a Kurt Russell’s hand I saw superman here I saw close encounters of the third kind I saw the omen I saw all the James Bond movies my childhood was spent here
I love this movie theater because their buttered popcorn was the best out of all of general cinemas theaters, plus like the other reviewers said, they played only exclusive road show movies at this theater I went to see earthquake here probably for 10 times and I didn’t realize back then that those SENSURROUND speakers were subwoofers anyway I hated it when they tore it down to put in a strip mall but it always showed the best movies I believe that Earthquake ran for about 10 months maybe longer if I’m wrong somebody correct me because I would like to know. Thank You
