Saw THE TOXIC AVENGER there. It was the censored R-rated version and was in one of the upstairs theaters.

Because this drive-in was in the middle of town and within walking distance of several neighborhoods, they had a outdoor seating section on both sides of the snack bar (like the one seen in THE OUTSIDERS when Matt Dillon is talking to Diane Lane).

I remember when this one first opened in 1985, they had free attendance all weekend. My cousin and I saw MAX MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME and ST. ELMOS FIRE.

I popped into the front lobby on a day where they were giving lunch for some seniors, and you can still see from the layout of walls and posts that it was once a movie theater. I’m guessing one of the theaters is now their worship hall.

I loved the Biograph in the 90s…..they regularly screened cult and foreign genre films that nobody else was showing, like A CHINESE GHOST STORY, Peter Jackson’s MEET THE FEEBLES, midnight shows of John Waters’s PINK FLAMINGOS, and so on.

Whoever owned or managed this theater in the 80’s must have been a big horror fan, because they screened several unrated horror movies put out by independent distributors that didn’t even play in Washington DC or Baltimore….EVIL DEAD 2, DEMONS, REANIMATOR, and DEAD ALIVE.

Towards the end, when it was a $1.99 second-run house, there were ceiling leaks in two of the theaters that they didn’t bother fixing; they just put buckets out and kept selling tickets! I recall families with small children being outraged and demanding refunds.

It did briefly re-open as a arthouse movie theater in the mid 90s. I saw THE SECRET OF ROAN INISH and a midnight screening of DAZED AND CONFUSED there. It’s currently a knick-knack shop that only uses the lobby.

At least one of the theaters in still intact, with seats and screen, and being used as a auditorium and meeting room by the Social Services office.
