I saw “The Exorcist” there and I think there was an ambulance outside and they were handing out barf bags. Also, the line to get in was so long.

If there was a theater at 2401 bonanza it wasn’t there very long. I don’t every remember going there.

Yeah for some reason I thought there was another drive-in on boulder hwy. I wish the drive-in was still there instead of another casino. And I hope drive-ins make a come back but with land prices so high I doubt it.

Yeah now I remember, the sunset turned into a teen hangout where they showed Jimi Hendrix films. We use to go there and drink beer and smoke. Oh how I miss going to the drive-in. Especially in winter when they use to have the car heaters. Even though winters here in Vegas are mild it still got cold enough. Nothing was better than A good movie, a heater, a cup of hot chocolate, and one of those drive-in pizza’s to make for a fun night. Hah-hah!

TeriAvenueKim – Wow you got a lot of great info that brings back a lot of memories. That theater I thought was on main st was really on 1st between Bridger & Carson. It’s where the Golden Nugget parking is now. It was right across from the Clark County Jail. And the name I think was called the Main theaters.

And I thought the Sunset drive-in was on Boulder Highway. I know there was the Skyway and another drive-in further down on Boulder highway. Could it be the Sky-Vue? Because I know there were two drive-ins on boulder HY. Not the one that use to be on Lamb and Sahara.

Hey TeriAvenueKim – How come there isn’t any mention of other Las Vegas theaters on this site? Do you remember these theaters?

The parkways 1 2 3 – It was next to the Boulevard mall. And there was another theater on Maryland Parkway right near there with a single screen. When it closed it became “Bookstar.'

There is one theater downtown right across from the jail called the “Main” I( think that was the name. It had an upper balcony. located on main st.

No mention of Cinemas 1 2 3 downtown, And no mention of Nevada drive-in. Located in North Las Vegas.

I forgot there was a drive-in on Craig rd but I foget the name.

I went to many movies at this theater too. It showed a lot of comedies for the youngsters. There were those movie cards at the front entrance. The building is still standing today but I don’t know what it’s used for. I think they use to have rock concerts there.

Yeah that as a great theater. The seats closer to the back were the rocking seats. We use to always fight over who got a rocking seat.

Also, I think there is a good shot of the theater in Clint Eastwood’s movie “The Gauntlet.”(1977)

Oh yeah I remember this theater. Before we would go stand in line there was a karate studio next door where we use to watch them practice karate. I think the last movie I was there was “Superman.”
Had to have been in ‘78 of course.

We use to go to this drive-in a lot when I was a kid and as a young adult. One screen, large snack bar, and a not to big play ground for the kids. Of course that’s all I can remember. There was also another drive-in down the street on Boulder Highway called the Sunset drive-in.

I remember that theater too. It wasn’t very big and I remember seeing the movie “Hell In The Pacific” (1968) with Lee Marvin. Not to long after that the theater turned into a xxx rated joint.

Yes, this theater was right next to the Fremont Hotel & casino. I get this one and the El Portal confused since I was a teen and it was a long time ago. I think the Fremont was the better of the two. It’s funny when the movie was over I’d go next door to the Fremont and play those pinball machines that were right in the door way. They were for adults but no security guards ever bothered me. Anyway, I spent most of my teen years downtown Las Vegas at the Fremont theater.

I use to go this this theater all the time back in the ‘60s and '70s.
It was a beautiful theater with great big theater curtains and plush seats (plush by '60s standards) The first movie I saw there was with my dad and it was “The Dirty Dozen.”
