It closed as a cinema and became a Variety Club Telebingo along with he Danforth Palace and the Runnymede. Later it became a TVstudio/theatre for Channel 47 MultiLingual Television. Then it became the Ritz Repertory theatre and later the Fine Arts on St Clair Closed and demolished mid to late 80s

When it opened it was strictly a movie house and only had a small platform in front of the screen. It was a quonset hut identical to the ones in Brampton Woodbridge Cooksville and Unionville

It was built as a movie theatre by a division of Odeon Canada and had identical theatres in Brampton Cooksville Uxbridge Woordbridge

It was one of two locations that Famous used the reversing Cinemecanica Victoria 8 projectors that at the end of the 6000 foot reel (one hour) the changeover occured and the out going machine ran backwards so there was no need to rethread The spool boxes could hold a 36" reel that could hold a 90 min feature The Automation was Cinemation MK4

When the Roxy was built the Capitol which had been built in the 20s was operating and just taken over by Odeon as well as a drivein located just west of Shoppers World The above Article was from a publication called “Theater Catalogue” In the 60’s and early 70’s it was used as a furniture store

The organ (warren/woodstock) from here and another Hamilton theatre are installed at Ancaster High Scool Sandy MacPherson was the organist for a while (from Paris Ontario) before going to Buffalo and then on to England to be the organist on the BBC

I worked there as the relief projectionist often just before it closed the booth was Simplex XL with SH1000 soundheads Peerless Magnarc Lamps and a Teco mono sound system That wide auditorium cried out for stereo and 70mm

The landsodowne operated as Spatz burlesque in the late 70 and then became a Hindi theatre operated by a Mr Sahota he also rand hindi films at the Donlands and Paradise

It was built in approximately 1913 as what appears as an extension to the back of an existing storefront In the late seventies and early 80’s it was called the Krishna Theatre and was operated by the same peron who ran hindi product at the parliment (ex gay theatre) on parliment and dundas he later ran the Donlands Theatre

The organ is made up of the Warren Organs from the Starland and Capitol in Winnipeg, the Capitol Ottawa (bits) and a Robert Morton from Glendale CA
