The people behind Row House Cinema transformed a former discount store into a single-screen boutique movie house. After bringing cinema to Lawrenceville, the team has turned its efforts to the South Hills, more specifically the historic Hollywood Theater on Potomac Avenue.

The Row House crew will officially reopen the Hollywood Theater in Dormont, where, from October through the end of the year, they plan to run programming in the 300-plus-seat theater.

When I search by my zipcode, it just returns every single theater in the US.

Sadly the latest StreetView image of the address now shows a vacant lot where the theater used to be so this listing should be changed to “Demolished”

The Regent Square is (hopefully) temporarily closed right now (Aug 2017) due to technical and financial issues. Here’s an article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the topic:

If the site is where the Ben & Jerry’s/Bagel Factory is now then the address should be 5885 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

The Park was torn down somewhere around 1970 to make room for an office building call “1776 On The Green”.

Here are some pictures of that office building.

I went to this theater for years in the seventies and early eighties. The last movie that I remember seeing there was Star Trek II which was 1982 but I think that it ran for a few years after that.

Also the Park was not demolished for a “freeway” but for an office building/hotel complex.
