I think they gave up on the renovation. Something happened to the funds. They might have done structural reenforcements but the theater’s doors were boarded up and then they did some kind of art project on the façade.
I understand you completely. What I don’t understand is why the people of Robert Davis Inc. would get their facts wrong if they themselves are the ones in charge of the theater consulting.
I say it was taken recently, you can tell because of the streetlamp design, but the person says it was taken in the 50s… I don’t know much about theaters but I hope to visit Yauco in the next two weeks. :)
I was thinking it’s better if they tear it down and rebuild it from scratch. All they can preserve is the sign, no point in letting that space go to waste. They can build a really nice theater in the heart of a historic district. Let me know what you think.
This is on the corner of Calle Victoria and Calle Unión.
The exterior must have taken an extreme change. :(
Nothing like it was.

Really well. Everything is just about finished. Last I went by they were placing the air conditioner boxes on the roof.
En Yauco hay un Teatro Star.

thanks, if you can, add me.
In Quebradillas there is another movie theater called Cine San José. It is currently abandoned.

This is a very important building. It is perhaps the only Art Deco building I have seen in all of Puerto Rico that retained its Art Deco interior.
It is on the south side of the Plaza.

I’m confused… >_<
So no one has photos of the old interior?

So, is the theater going to live?
Sorry to hear about your house. Were they architecturally intriguing? Did you take any pics of them? Add me on flickr…

The description sounds a lot like the Fine Arts… But I really don’t know anything.
Was Cinearte Demolished or closed?
