“The Lyric Theater, at the corner of Howard St and S Walnut St, was the site of performances by different groups including Dallastown High School and the American Legion. In this photo, taken by William M Bigler, 4 of the performers appear in theatrical makeup known as blackface. It was a 300 seat theater that was mainly known for showing silent films with piano, and frequently violin accompaniment.”
