Regent Theatre
Gilbert Walsh spent a year as the Regent’s first manager. He was followed by Roger Best, Jack Watts and James F. Collins. Industry veteran Stanley N. Wright joined Hoyts in 1930 and was for ten years Regent General Manager. William (Bill) Lincoln joined Hoyts Cadet Corp. when the Regent opened in 1928. By 1934 (pictured here) he had risen to the position of house manager, taking over from J. J. Collins as Wright’s first lieutenant. After war service he returned to his management position, but with the coming of TV, and grim prospects for the future of cinema, Bill decided to leave the industry - but returned, a few years later, when a business he set up folded. He served as Regent Manager again, until a stroke forced him into retirement around 1972.
