Ok my question is… this location is listed on loopnet for lease, and I can’t fathom how with the location split across the foodcourt and only having one concession stand on one side would even be practical. The landlord is showing the Digital projectors being offered and currently equipped. They do not list in their details that a concession stand is located on both sides, only one.

They are listing movies on fandango, BUT that can be ghost times, or times that were published before the theater decided to close.. it is bound to happen SOON..considering there are 4 movies playing in 3 auditoriums, and this has been practice for the last year…

Trollyguy i know that they were going to close the balcony theaters because of accesability, i know they have digital 3d for one screen but seriously it was so dirty and dingy. I walked thru the place with realitors before it reopened. The web page is not the same im wondering if it is new operators? My work doesnt take me that direction anymore so im not too sure whats going on.

Has anyone noticed this is running like a 4plex?.. i havent had time to go that way recently, but strikes me odd. Just like ybor 20 once taken over by Carmike (AMC now) only 10 of the 20 screens are functioning.

This weekend if you bring 2 can food items they are giving free movie tickets..

I just hope that they don’t tear the mall down around such a nice new investment… and as the area is just so nice I hope they don’t destroy it!

Again Teicher lost his lease to the theater for development. He still runs the Drive in seasonally.

Am I safe to assume this was a Cinemark at one time with the black an white checkered Tiles and Orange and Green wall papers, and their typical concession sign?

This is not a Premiere Cinema… PCC Premiere only operates Plant City 8 and Fashion Square 14 in Orlando. Someone has attached this to the wrong chain.

building was raised last year. The person who was going to re-open it had financing issues, and backed out. Since this Cinemark has started construction of a 12 screen attached to the mall where Dillards used to be.

This location was never a typical Carmike you walked in and it was NICE.. the layout was over the top, and had a multi level projection area.

The upkeep was horrible as it did open the day the company filed bankruptcy, and the area it is located in, the FHP officers hired to do security wouldn’t even bring their family’s to watch a movie in.

things being destroyed daily people scaling the walls between the stadium stairs and removing speakers from the walls and taking them out the back doors…

I could go on and on, but I am sure now that it has been open 13 years it has been run into a typical Carmike craphole…

if you google this location it is showing first run features. This theater is branded under the company CINELUXE not to be confused with CINELUX.
There is only access by a facebook page I can’t find a webpage yet.

Still sitting vacant with a high lease that no one wants to deal with for such a small profit margin. I assume that once AMC’s obligation to operate this location and subsidize profits from other locations they bailed!

Howard, Wouldn’t it be more wise to invest that 75k into a Digital Projector, then take the profits of remaining open in 2014 and beyond to make cosmetic changes?

Stuck in Limbo until probably September 2013… the port authority is dragging with perspective new plaza owners.. most electronics were stripped from the building, but Seats, Screens and Sound Systems are still in place, but need a good cleaning.. already wired for digital but needs equipment brought back in.

Lobby and First appearance look good, but I am sure that there is a lot of small broken things that have been neglected based on reviews from the last few years about the previous management!

You don’t take out your frustrations on customers if you are having issues with your landlord! enough said!

Rofl Carlos as that is the death of the cinema… Britton will be a lost treasure soon!! Even the Ruskin Drive-in went Digital last year… The equipment at britton is ORIGINAL with the exceptions of the lamp houses. That elevator fixed yet? New owner in 2010 now 2013… Still broke.. I have seen several $1 theaters already convert to digital, they are very successful value locations that larger chains abandoned because of profit margin..

You can watch those same movies in the Bradenton mall 6 weeks later for .50 on Tuesdays in a multiplex built in the 80’s as a multi not a single screen split into 8 built in the 30’s .

I like the idea of the rent incentives and aggressiveness of your leasing offers, but realistically in today’s market, I honestly don’t see how you could re-open against a practically new Stadium, Digital Cinemark that positioned themselves to run out the competition.

In the eminent Loom of Digital OR DIE it doesn’t make business since if there is a booking zone restriction in place because Cinemark will continue to out book the films for the blockbusters at this location, now if it was Carmike as your competition, and you had a few Million to drop on the 5 screen you could make it a destination location with food and beverage if a liquor license was available. You may have a chance.

Good Luck

Nick, I have a feeling that the mall/ or Frank probably was doing something illegal by filling the space, and pocketing something from the IRS.. The mall was probably writing off extra security expenses and hoping that the traffic (little as it was) would generate some holiday traffic…

I have a strange feeling that Frank had to know that they would be temporary.. Not one Digital Projector was installed you would have thought priority would have been get the 4 largest 400 seat theaters 3D capable for the movies last year! They basically turned the lights back on, and used duct tape and chewing gum to hold the ship together..

As much crap as they fed management about plans they probably didn’t know until about 2 weeks before.. I have been in situations before with CARMIKE that they tried to close my building 3 times and denied it when the DM called them on it. Saying they were coming to update computers, fix things etc.. But they would scratch their head when they saw the fact that I was making them money, they eventually went 100% digital and upgraded seating at this location after multiple attempts to close it.. And eventually promoted me to a 20 screen that I quickly learned I was drastically being underpaid to manage!

University 16 was under grossing $1 theaters at the end.. In this economy and with the grosses that location had made in the last 6 years no bank would have ever given them a loan to spend millions of $$ to retrofit and digitize, unless you have money buried in your back yard for a complete chain wide digital retrofit 2 years before anyone else..

Enough said.. I would love to get back in the business because insurance sales suck a$$ now due to Obama and commission rate cuts and that topic is another day another place! If anyone in Tampa or Orlando area is looking for a kick A$$ general manager let me know!

They would rather tie up the court system and not get a dime.. The center is not only suing the theater operator, but is in default in excess of 400 million themselves.

Really the location being stadium already and digital only required some deep cleaning, maintenance and attitude change with some marketing and proper management team could have made a marginal profit.

I would love to have gotten involved with this location as General Manager and done some cool things to bring it back to life!

Moviemad52 what is your status are you an active operator?

Hmm that would certainly put a hit on Raymond James Stadium, as the bulls have filled the seats more this season than the buc’s themselves.

I really began to wonder how sweet that deal was because if anyone did the math, it never would have added up in favor of any operator to spend a couple million to retrofit and digital an existing theater in a greedy mall that wants over $13 a square ft… On aprox 30,000 sq ft $390,000 a month and pull the financials of all the other operators I’m sure revenue was below 1.5mil a yr. attendance at a 6 screen dollar house in Bradenton consistently outnumbered it in attendance.

So will Frank be held to back rent? Or will frank pull a chapter 11 on the location and run? It’s not like they spent anything it was walk in ready and reopen! I don’t get up that way often, and would never pay any money to watch a movie there until renovations were made.

Last Summer I drove past this theater. It is still standing in front of the fence to the defunct Hard Rock Park.. you have to look past the trees and growth, but it looks like an old UA..
The whole area is nast, the mall in front of it needs torn down.. the only things that are clean and new looking are the theme park and the opera show that is right there.

I am amazed that this location is now closed by their website… Should be changed to closed.. did someone build a Mega-Plex across the street or is the landlord just an A$$? it’s already stadium, the smell can be removed and the cleaning and coat of paint with the installation of digital projectors will generate income to then do seat replacements etc.. it looks like it was maintained by Regal.. if it had been a Carmike I wouldn’t even take a look it would be a shithole ran into the ground. an independent could get in here and make some money… the only thing must be a GREEDY LANDLORD!
