There were a few IMAX feature films that ran over the years at the OmniMax at Caesar’s. The only one I saw was Wings of Courage. I think. I don’t remember exactly.
Wife tells me she went to this theater more than others, just because it was a discount theater near her family’s house, and was able to take younger siblings.
Save over 100+ IMAX movies at this theater. Why? Two reasons: (1) There was a video arcade underneath the theater. Best damn arcade in Vegas, ‘til Pinbal Hall of Fame opened. (2) Military discount, student discount, locals’ discount, and child admission fee. I paid only $2 to see IMAX movies here.
At the time of the closure, I was the fire safety installation and recharge tech., and I talked to various multimillionaire big-wigs about closing the OmniMax. They said it was because of a lack of IMAX movies, and also that they didn’t nail down Fantasia 2000 (a big hit for IMAX at the time) to their competitors at the Luxor IMAX. The theater just wasn’t making enough money with educational IMAX movies (despite me learning a lot as a child).
When Matrix, Harry Potter, etc., all were released for IMAX, which OmniMax is 100% compatible, the big-wigs admit they made mistake, because Ms. Dion’s stadium has yet to pay for itself. In fact, I remember the plans for the the stadium was going to be where the outdoor arena was at the time, but they decided to go with removal of the OmniMax, due to the lack of features.
Today, they’d make a large profit with all of the IMAX movies.
An ex-girlfriend (high school/summer before college) and her husband tried to go to this theater, and the poor owner took the time to load the movie for them, then gave up. Nobody ever came to the theater, according to ex-girlfriend’s conversation with the owner. (Again, people in Pahrump complained that there’s no theater, a theater is built, and then complained about theater.)
Saw Burn After Reading and Quantum of Solace here. My wife and I tried our best to see other films, but the movies always seemed to play when bills cleaned out our bank account, and never played what we wanted to see when we had some spare money. Of course, the idiot citizens of Pahrump complain they want a movie theater, Saddle West ponies up and provides it, and they complain about Saddle West providing a movie theater! No wonder the town will be a ghost town by 2020. (90% of the population is over 60.)
I see a good majority of movies at this theater because I gamble here (are the “free” movies, shows, and buffets really “free”) and because I can just walk to this theater. Wish they did some late showings, though, because I get cabin fever at home all the time, and just want to go somewhere to do something.
This theater has a huge Superman emblem/symbol in the window, and it directly upstairs of the New Point Barbershop, just so folks can find it easier. Also, the easiest way to get to this theater is to drive in from the Commercial Center’s North Entrance on E. Sahara Ave., and then drive all the way to the back to the “New Orleans” part of the shopping center. Parking is aplenty.
This theater had a MAJOR problem of gangs roaming the parking lot and causing trouble. They “claimed” it. And people just stopped coming to the movies there.
Oh, and about the “residents don’t appreciate the blight”, the neighborhood is mostly new, built between 1989 and 1999. The whites moved out, and today, it’s a Spanish-speaking neighborhood. I visit it frequently for the in-laws, who live down the street from this theater.
So, the junior high my brother-in-law attended was a movie theater at one time? And it was right near his house? Man, will he mad when I tell him that!
When it was a concert venue, I spent many Saturday nights doing the Dazed and Confused thing, and somehow, always ended up at Cafe Copioh and later at home with a chick.
I wish I could purchase the building and restore it to a movie palace that shows all-night grindhousing of the worst movies I can offer (Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment, Troll 2, Hackers, etc.)
I saw Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom here. I remember the building used to have Superman and other movie characters zooming up the sign.
Saw over 50+ movies here. My parents preferred this theater over to all others. (Who knows why.)
While I can’t recall everything, I do remember seeing Last of the Mohicans, Beauty and the Beast, City Slickers II, Maverick. The reason I can’t recall is I was an American teenager. Think about that. Lots of dates I took to Mountain View, Torrey Pines, Red Rock, Village Square, and Cinedome Decatur.

I didn’t know this theater existed ‘til Sep. of 2011. That says something.
Saw From Dusk ‘til Dawn on the day the theater opened. It was the first movie I recall THX being used properly.
I’ve seen 30+ movies here. Last movie I saw here was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I must say, I like this theater. I recently saw The Three Stooges and Casablanca at this theater.
Recently saw The Muppets, Ben-Hur, and one other movie here. I guess it wasn’t too memorable.

Rough neighborhood. I never knew this was an adult theater. Maybe that’s the way to go in this part of Downtown.
I saw about four, forgettable movies here with my wife. I enjoyed the theater, though, and was wondering what happened to it.
1998 – The Butcher Boy. Theater was crowded.
Always wanted to see a movie at this theater. So I did. Never returned, because it’s just hard for me to get to. Shame it’s closed.
