I asked a question to AMC Theatres on facebook and they told me to ask the manager of the theater, who usually makes the decisions. Maybe you should ask the manager, JJD.

I wanted to see “Avatar” in IMAX 3D in extended but that’s not the case.

BTW, showtimes are greyed out for movietickets.com at this theater. WHat’s up with that? I’ll ask them on facebook.

The manager who ran this theater, Robert Aldrich, has his own Facebook page. View link

I know. I’ve seen it before in other movies that are converted into 3D from 2D, such as the reissue of Nightmare Before Xmas as well as Up 3D. Other movies that are shot in 3D, such as Avatar and Despicable Me, are very bright and deliver punch-out images to the human eye.

Hopefully it will. Two upcoming events are coming according to the fandango site…Beauty and the Beast Sing A Long, on tuesday September 29th, then Exorcist Director’s Cut event the next day which will be the Version You’ve Never Seen shown digitally plus never-before-seen making of footage which will appear on the bluray when that film is released for the first time on that format. As of today, this theater is the longest-lived Loews theater in northern New Jersey.

When I went to see kids movies as well as regular flicks at this theater…this trailer would be played before the movie…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wtnik1rb60I&fmt=18
it was probably the longest policy trailer I’ve seen in my life!! There was also a second version of this that played before Elmo In Grouchland as well as Muppets from Space (the latter of which I saw in Allwood, a Clearview cinema), that explained the history of movies, Muppets-style.

Once Loews Cineplex took over, things went downhill once Clifton Commons opened. It wasn’t until when AMC merged with Loews that big changes were coming. New uniforms, replacement of SDDS with Dolby Digital systems in every screen, and two digital 4k 3D screens. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the Fandango deal.

As I can recall, Titanic played for months at this theater, even though it wasn’t shown in 70mm (only a few theatres showed it, including the Astor in times square). I saw it in 5.1 SDDS. It was the first 3 hour+ movie I saw at the theater, and it didn’t need an intermission (the two-disc special edition has an intermission) so I sat through the movie including the trailers (one of which advertised Payback, which would be delayed until 1999!!!). I also saw Tomorrow Never Dies at this theater the weekend that Titanic opened, a decent bond movie. This was during the year that Sony controlled this theater during its last year as a Loews theater.

According to AMC, those who usually go to Essex Green (now closed for renovations) are now told to go check out this theater. I think this theater doesn’t need a Fork and Screen since there are too many restaurants, both local and franchised owned, to serve East Hanover residents.

I agree CConnoly1. They should’ve kept the theater open and converted all three screens into a giant IMAX screen theater. Too bad its successor has a smaller IMAX screen.

I think so. The store will face some competition from Home Depot on Route 17. As for long lines going to the tenplex, my memory from going there was there was a long line for the x-men movie. CT users, what line was the longest to the theater in the history of this tenplex? I guess it was for the Star Wars movies.

For one day, the theater was closed so that pest control would spray the theater with bug spray. The theater reopened the next day. I also noticed that one of the screens is now an ETX. How is ETX at the theater? I hope ETX comes to Rockaway.

What a stupid renaming change for this theater, although I like shopping there in Rockaway where the old Rockaway Outer 6 was.

I heard reports by facebook users that this theater is infested with bedbugs. Hope they sanitize the theater like what AMC is doing with the Empire.

According to Movietickets.com, Hubble 3D will play at this theater starting Friday. There are two showtimes for the movie for the weekend, and they occur during the late morning, early afternoon. I think Inception will fill in the rest of the schedule for the IMAX theater until Avatar Special Edition comes next weekend for several weeks before Resident Evil 3D comes out. I’ll probably see it in 4k 3D rather than liemax 3d since the IMAX 3D is a blown-up version of the 3D film. If that movie doesn’t do well in 3D, then maybe that movie with the CGI owls will do well. It could do for snow owls what Happy Feet did for penguins.

This should help sagging theater sales in those towns. If these theaters do well, then other theaters might follow suit.

Even radio didn’t kill the movies, they advertised the movie and told news about the movie. Very few radio dramas still exist on radio airwaves.

One film that I’m not going to see is Jackass 3D. THe first movie was pretty funny but the second one sucked. Nobody wants to see people do dangerous stunts in 3d as it might be too scary for the faint of heart. Slimshady, any news on the all-digital conversion of this theater? Garden State 16 has 15 digital, one 35mm, Clifton Commons has a bunch and others 35mm, and Essex Green is being renovated into an all-digital fork and screen, forcing people to go to the one digital screen only East Hanover or the two digital screen Loews Wayne.

moviebuff82 commented about AMC Garden State 16 on Aug 14, 2010 at 2:55 pm

it’s all digital except for one screen, which is still 35mm. Salt is currently playing in film.
