The film “Ed Wood” depicts the premiere of “Plan Nine From Outer Space” (1959) as taking place at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The premiere was actually held at the Carlton Theatre in Los Angeles.
Is there a balcony in this theater? All three screens are on the auidtorium level (two smaller in the rear and one larger in the front), but this place looks like it has or had a balcony at one time.
Did you guys get in on Good Friday? I will take your advice on the tour. I went to a show at the Loews in the fall and at the time didn’t know about the tours of the Stanley. Oh well, another road trip.
The Lyric Theatre was built on land once occupied by the First Reformed Dutch Church. In 1838, the basement was occupied by the first school in the East Ward.
