I don’t understand why Cinema Treasures invites someone to submit a theater described “in ones own words”, as I did with the ARCADIA, and then takes it upon themselves to dump a good description in favor of a news flash describing its demise in a fire.
Can’t we all read about that in the comments!?
(Not the only submission of mine that has had the description altered)
Yeah,Yeah,Yeah. Now that it is gone, the Arcadia has become an 80 year old landmark!? It is the same old story with Dallas and will be missed for about 15 minutes.
Hey Bryan. Just wanted to say thanks for your posting of the Granada in Alpine. Because of that I visited the Texas Escapes website and was able to place towns with eleven separate theater photographs that I had all but given up on the locations.
By the way, the Granada was one of them along with the Texas in Kingsville.
Hello Cinema Treasures. This is my posting, however the wording is not all mine. I do not have and have never seen any Film Dailey Year books and never make reference to them.
I submitted this as the RITZ after having researched information from the Hobbs library. I found reference from two separate authors saying the RITZ was the first Hobbs theater. Neither author called the Roosevelt a theater.
One article made mention of the Roosevelt as having burned down, but did not call it a theater.
I did not see any information saying the RITZ name was changed to the Roosevelt.
Would it be possible to change the wording and name back to the RITZ unless someone can present more reliabe info?
Hey Bryan. The Hobbs library info says “ the Ritz was built on the site of the Roosevelt, which was destroyed by fire several years ago.” The info is somewhat conflicting, because it also says the Ritz was the first movie theater built in Hobbs. It doesn’t call the Roosevelt a theater so I am at a loss on this. From what I have read, I gather that the Rig and Roosevelt were not one and the same. I visited Hobbs about 11 years ago and don’t think any of these buildings have survived with the exception of the old Frontier Theater building.

You may reach him at
Thanks……
Hey Steve…..Cinema Tour has the Yucca in Roswell listed at 124 W. 3rd. Unfortunately there is no other info except that it has been demolished.
