70 years ago today ( May 8, 1953) Columbia’s first color 3-D feature “Fort Ti” directed by William Castle - had it’s World Premiere at the State theatree.
The Castro Theatre Conservatory has realized an ambitious plan to wrest the Castro from the clutches of APE. It would leave the seating and interior as plan.
Plans call for a 365 day a year schedule. 200 days of film, 52 for film festivals.
“On Thursday 4/6/23, the Castro Merchants voted to conditionally support Another Planet Entertainment’s (APE) proposed changes to the 100-year-old Castro Theatre.”

It’s in a good location. Few blocks from DeWitt Clinton Park, many condos near by, it’s near “Terminal 5” - the 59th St/Columbus Circle subway station is about a 15 minute walk.
From what I see, these folks who own “Look Cinemas” know what they are doing.
Landmark couldn’t make a go of it. Would rather it sit dormant?

I didn’t condone the issue with the escalator.
I merely suggested that as a consumer, if I had an issue with a business - I’d go to that business and ask someone in charge what the problem was. Not come to some online forum and stew over something for what was it 4 ½ years if going back over the history of this page is any indication.
However if that’s how you’ve chosen to interpret my suggestion, then you go right ahead and have a lovely day.

Go to the theatre and try to find out what the problem was?
Can’t be good for ones mental and physical health obsessing over something for 4 ½ years.

Yup, Fandango has showtimes listed through the end of the March.

I checked earlier today and 17th had only later evening showings for the bigger releases, but now it’s an entire day for all movies there
