Correction, The Colonial was not located on Rt. 51, but on Elliot Rd. The Marquee was located on Rt. 51, but on the opposite side of Elliot, with a huge arrow pointing to the road.
I do have some good news. The historical society of Brentwood had a phone number. It direected me to the public library. They do have some pictures. The librarian said she can possibly help (even with the uplaoding of pictures.) I’ll keep you posted!
This was a shame when it closed. Even though I was never in there, this puts a huge void in the Monroeville area. No theaters are left in the Monroeville business district. :(
The Mt. Oliver Theater building is still there. It now houses a religious congregation of some sort.
I heard somewhere the Strand used to have a bowling alley. Was it demolished? Apparently the address matches a Mexican restarant chain that hardly resembles a theater. Does anyone have any old pictures or photos of the Strand?
Here is a picture of Warner Center (formerly the Warner Theater). The marquee is similar to what it used to be. The building is now sadly vacant as stated above.
I used to go o the Mt. Oliver and Whitehall Theaters a lot when I was a kid. Bothe are now closed (Mt. Oliver is a church of some sort now and the Whitehall is now a Giant Eagle grocery store.) :(

It is strange. I don’t remember seeing the Rex until recently. Was it vacant in the 80s before its reopening?

The name is so forgettable to me, I keep calling it the Kelly Clarkson Theater, shudder to think……….

The theater is still open. very, dark and seedy inside. That is all I’ll say. ;)
