The Star Theater was opened on November 23, 1905. On March 15, 1906 it was renamed Dem Theater. I found the Gem Theater on a history of Washington County, PA website. It claims the following: “Dr. H. J. Gamble built the Gamble Opera House and in 1905 opened the Gem Theater which showed motion pictures”.

I found an address of 247 West Main Street for the Gem Theatre, but it was published in 1908. If Monongahela’s numbering system might or might not have changed since then. If it hasn’t changed, then this theater has been demolished. It must have been on what is now part of the site of a modern building that has an H&R Block store in it. The store directly across the street from Block, Twice as Nice, is at 246 W. Main.
The same publication had an advertisement for the Ideal Theatre, featuring “Vaudeville, Motion Pictures, Illustrated Songs”, so the Ideal did show movies.
It actually first opened as the Star Theatre on November 23, 1905 with some attraction I cannot think which one goes first. It reads “The Bigamist or Ten Wives To One Hundred” but I consider it as a double feature, along with other comedies and performances, before becoming the Gem Theatre on March 15, 1906.
