The cinema was held in the Clonard Hall, a former school, and was a travelling cinema called the Majestic. Presumably it was the same Majestic that called at Killucan in Westmeath once a week during the 1950s to screen films.
On the Ritz’s birthday on the 28th of January 1963 a performance called “The Christmas Cracker” was held. The performances lasted four weeks, with surprise appearences from the likes of Sean Meaney.
Now Switch nightclub with the Stage Door, a fringe theatre, upstairs and So:Cake tearoom both accessed ‘round the back.
Still a sauna at present, 24 years after I last went past it.
“The Pavilion” building is now home to the LifeSpring Church and is available for hire.
