Ed Wood filmed most of his classics in the Los Angeles area, so it’s a good possibility that the scene was filmed in the Monterey. He probably finagled the use of the theater from someone as a favor.

I agree, Bill. It reminds me of Oscar winners who use their podium time to decry the conditions in Tibet (not that I have anything against Tibet per se).

When I was in college in the early 1980s, Admiral Wilson Boulevard was notable for the astounding number of adult businesses as well as ladies of the evening that would board the municipal buses trolling for customers. Ah, memories.

If the theater did have a $200,000 renovation in 2002, the status should be changed to Open.
