The above address is incorrect. That address is for Cinรฉpolis Pico Rivera which is next to the drive in entrance. There was no way to enter from Whittier Blvd.
The adress was 5125 Paramount Blvd, Pico Rivera, CA 90660 now Fishman Rd. WHhittier was where screens 3 and 4 with their respective marquees were located. Please update.
Th adress for this theater is 378 Beach Rd, Burlingame, CA 94010. Please update. This would closer to the parking garage which was Field #2 of the drive-in.
The actual address was 575 Carter St, Daly City, CA 94014. In fact this was never on Geneva only the marquee. A satellite parking lot for the Cow Palace separated this drive-in from the avenue. Please update.
Super Saver had several locations usually pickups from other companies whose thateatres weren’t doing so well. 3 such cases in point: Fremont Gateway 8 screens in Fremont Ca. AMC Milpitas 10 and AMC Mainplace 6 Santa Ana. The latter also turned into a Picture Show. All 3 were due to Century Megaplexes nearby…
See AMC Covina 17/30 and AMC Deer Valley 17/30 AND AMC Palm Promenade 14/24 for mord details…Aron and AMC have a nasty habit of cutting down screens when most locations were overscreened to begin with! Corporate greed run amuck. Harkins Arizona Mills 18/25 isn’t the only one! Check screens in KS and OH too!
Correction to the above comments. It’s Karl Malden Oscar winner for A Streetcar Named Desire (well deserved), On the Waterfront and Patton. Reminder to kiddies playing at home: MALDEN WAS HรS TRUE FIRST NAME! Don’t mess this one up! Factoid: I almost met him as a extra on The Streets of San Francisco. But alas it wasn’t meant to be! I did get to meet the late great Richard Hatch! So there you have it folks! Rant and TV history off! ๐๐
True Scott…Also The Lot at the City Center across the freeway with all the bells and whistles didn’t help matters. Neither did Blackhawk up the hill. So sorry to see this one go! ๐ฎโ๐จ๐
FYI Mike everything Warners and Disney filmed especially in 60’s through the 80’s was filmed in the Hollywood Hills or Burbank sound stages. Same with MGM Columbia and Culver City, Paramount and Melrose West Hollywood. For example in Mommie, Joan Crawford drove to Culver Blvd. to meet with Mayer, in reality Faye Dunaway drove to 5555 Melrose Ave. as the sctual movie was a Paramount Picture. It’s all made up, fairytales, etc.
AKA the cave AKA the crown AKA the informal home of all Lucasfilm and Paramount movies. All Star Wars and Indy Jonss films played here from A New Hope and Raiders to Attack of Clones. The Screen was massive slightly curved (think Northpoint & Cinema 150 not the Centurys) and the curtains were very impressive. Saw the original Top Gun'86 and Star Trek ‘79 here…Great times to be had by all! Excellent job The Cave! RIP mighty one! ๐๐
FYI like the Lumiere (main screen), this too had hardwood floors! You could hear footsteps a mile away it was so loud. The Metro, The Col, The Vogue, The Surf, The Stonestown Twin and The Royal had the same problem.
I saw the SF premieres of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (The reopening of a single screen and met Stan Winston annd Dennis Muren to boot!) and The Silence of the Lambs with my younger brother (World Premiere BTW!) Excellent theater! The acoustics were astounding! The concession stand awas tiny but who cares? The entire auditorium was bathed in emerald colors of various shades I kid you not! I remembered this one like the back of my hand! RIP old Al! You were one of the greatest cinemas in America! ๐๐
This theater was located at 5200 Riverside Ave, San Pablo, CA 94806. Conta Costa was the entrance. THIS has nothing to with the shopping center to the west of this location OR Ventura Avenue. Per Historical Aerials in 1959. The screen was located in the NW corner west of Contra Costa…please update.
The actual address where the entrance road was located is 4600 Buck Owens Blvd, Bakersfield, CA 93308 now a self storage facility north of said motel now not Quality Inn…Please update.
