Since AMC is installing recliners in theater #8 for clifton commons' amc dolby prime, this theater is in danger of being extinct.

AMC correctly labeled this theater under NJ tab on amc website.

I think this theater and mansfield will get renovations once work is done in Parsippany.

Out of these six movies, Rocky was the most popular.

From 1987 to 1998 and from 2013-present. Do they still have the 70mm projection or did they throw it away? When Clearview took over they replaced pepsi with coke and when AMC came back coke was back. Lots of good movies to choose from.

Nope but my dad did. Fiddler on the Roof was the first movie to be shown in 70mm here. Dick Tracy was the last movie to play in this format here in 1990.

Yup. The first 70mm movie that it showed was a reissue of 2001: A Space Odyssey back in 1970. The last movie it showed in 70mm was Last Action Hero.

This theater showed mostly Universal movies akin to what Cinema 35 showed during the 1980s.

This is the only single screen theater left in the County that shows mostly movies, specifically art house movies.

1977 was when AMC first arrived at the mall since its opening on labor day nearly 40 years ago. In 1981, the outers opened. Both theaters closed within four years of each other due to lease expirations between Simon and AMC. It wasn’t until 2004 when construction was approved for a 16 screen Loews Cineplex stadium seating theater, which was delayed until 2006 due to weather and other issues. Then AMC came in, and it became AMC Rockaway 16. Elements of Loews' signage are still there, with the font of the loews name for the numbers, the welcome sign, and the searchlights on the building. As for the last time i visited this place, I went to see Lego Batman in theater #16. The audio was crisp yet the volume was low, and the picture quality was very dim and flickering. If this theater gets renovated with recliners and reserved seating, I’ll stop going to this theater.

Did employees have to transfer from the inners to the outers during peak and non peak hours? Must’ve been a drive between the locations. Thankfully when AMC returned to Rockaway they managed it nicely.

If there’s one chain that might buy this theater it’s Regal. Regal has done a better job speeding up renovations of older theaters and expanding in the marketplace. Regal was the creator of the 20 minute preshow before spinning off the joint venture with AMC while still owning a part of it.
