I uploaded some new pictures of the amusement park rides at Meadowbrook from the mid 1950’s. Pictures are courtesy of Nancy and Paul Coffman…Tiffin, Ohio.
The reason it is not listed is because nobody has listed it yet. If you have information (location, years opened, pictures, and movie ads) about the drive-in theatre, you can list it yourself. There are a lot of drive-ins theatres still not on the website yet.
I think I have found it @ 2130 US Hwy 278 Highway, Gadsden, AL 35903. On Drive-ins.com there is a opening day ad for it. Built in 1951 and opened in 1952. Closed in 1952. Anymore information would be great.
Well said Chuck!! I just uploaded a movie ad for the Grove DI. It is listed on Attallia Blvd. Name change on the street? Goodson I see wrote an article about the drive-in theatres in Gadsden in the local paper. Could you write new overviews/ add current pictures/add the theatres in Gadsden that are missing and submit them, so Ken can change them?
Over the years, address numbers get changed, roads get renamed, and property gets bought and split up and renumbered. Because a movie ad, city directory, phone book says it is at a certain address with XXXX number in 1955. Then fast forward to 2013. It might be different. I have friend that worked in the street dept. back in the day and I asked him about that. In the 1950-1960’s, the cities and county’s would change the street names and numbers has the need arises!
It amazing to me that it was only open for a short period of time. With all the money that was invested into it. You would think that it would have stayed open at least two years. Unless the owners ran out money and lost it.
