@thmaga We’re not quite ready to support editing uploaded photos, but that will come in the next week or two.
@RonNewman For now, once a street view has been changed by someone, it can’t be changed again. So, if you do see the update button on a streetview, you can be the one who sets the view for everyone else.
@RonNewman Comments are working as designed. Since some of our theaters have over 3000 comments, it’s a bit impractical to load them all into a single page, so that’s why we’ve added pagination.
We’re planning to work throughout the weekend and all next week to address any bugs with the new site that you guys find.
IMPORTANT: if you’re still seeing the Google Maps API key message, make sure you’re using our http://cinematreasures.org address — don’t use beekman.heroku.com.
@Ron We fixed the buggy text on the homepage. You can already search for theaters by previous name with the current search tool. We’ll be adding support for searching by city next week.
@mrbillshow You can edit your profile information by clicking on your username in the red box on the upper right of your screen. Once on your profile, click ‘edit profile’ and then you can update your name, add an avatar, etc.
@Tinseltoes The design is largely finished, so that’s unlikely to change too much. That said, if you’re using an older browser, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari to get the best experience.
If you run into any new issues, please leave a comment here. You can also email us at .
Thanks for your input, guys. We really wish there was a better way to deal with this problem too.
Unfortunately, we didn’t write the blog system, so there’s no way for us to renumber blog posts as you described, BWChicago. And even if we could, changing those pages would mean that we’d create broken links wherever anyone had linked to them.
We’ve always had a strong community on this site… and I don’t think this temporary setback will jeopardize that.
When we reset the notifications, we had to delete everyone’s notification preferences, because many people were getting notifications they no longer wished to receive (and there was no way to change settings for specific users).
So, if you’re not receiving any notifications, that’s why. Going forward, as you make new comments on theater pages, you’ll be able to sign up again for notifications.
Again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience to some of you, but this was the only possible way to fix this feature and make sure it works correctly for everyone.
Well, I never told Ross about all the movies I’ve been producing on the side. ;)
Just kidding. That’s not me, Peter… though I’m actually interested in making movies. I’ve worked on a few films with people who worked with my alter ego, and they told the other Patrick Crowley about me.
And, hey, it’s always fun to see your name on the big screen, even if it’s someone else.
To clarify my remarks, Greg, we’re most interested in finding an address that will map properly on Google Maps.
This may or may not be the official mailing address. We should all keep in mind that addresses are always an approximation… there’s never a true right answer.
Ultimately, our goal is to use the most current, most active address that will allow us to successfully map the location of a theater. Secondarily, we’ll try to preserve the historical address, especially in cases where roads have disappeared, etc.
We plan to update Cinema Treasures soon to support the idea of an historical address. That way, we can store the original address and the current address… and everyone will be happy.
But, mainly, we use the current address so folks who’d like to visit theaters have a chance to actually find them. It’s a lot easier to say “go to this address” than “go to Floral Park, but it’s really called Bellerose, and look for Jamaica Ave, but it might be called Jericho Turnpike”.
Again, linking to images is perfectly legal, Warren.
This exact issue has been litigated in many countries around the world… and the result has always been that courts find such linking to be legal.
You’re welcome to disagree, but our policy isn’t up for discussion. I respect your point of view, but please refrain from trying to “police” the site for us.
FYI… since 103 Diamond Street no longer exists, I’ve updated the address with the nearest existing street address. That way, people will be able to find the approximate location.

Thanks for your awesome feedback!
Hey, richjr37.
This could be a side effect of the DNS changes we made today to launch the site.
Check back again tomorrow morning. It should be resolved by then. But if you’re still seeing this issue, please email us at .
Thanks!
Hey, Ron.
New comments are blocked on the rest of the website, but we are allowing them here.
And, yes, don’t worry about the old URLs. They will still work, so if anyone uses an old theater page link, they will be redirected to the new page.
Thanks for your input, guys. We really wish there was a better way to deal with this problem too.

Thanks again for understanding.

Ha, that’s pretty funny, Peter.
Yeah, I really enjoyed seeing movies at the Film Forum when I lived in the city. They’ve always had great programming there.

Thanks, Lost. Good point. I’ve updated the policy to include that.
This space appears to have been converted into a supermarket.
FYI.. the shop is known as the “Old Theatre Store”.
Judging from the park’s location, the original address would be 376 S State.
So I’m guessing Jazz Age Chicago was off by one digit.
Corrected. Thanks, Lost!

History isn’t screwed, Warren.

Ultimately, we have to go with the official mailing address.
While the local community might know an area by a different name, the address is really there to guide non-locals.
If you map this address on Google, or your GPS, or on your iPhone, it should just work.
Again, linking to images is perfectly legal, Warren.

That’s my job. ;)
Yeah, let’s go with “street”. Google seems to prefer that, as well.
Thanks for your input, Lost and BWChicago!
Warren, linking to copyrighted images is okay. Please stop bugging people about this.
These links are perfectly okay from a legal point of view, and there’s no policy against making such links on Cinema Treasures.
And I’m sure Flickr doesn’t mind the traffic we give them either.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in about the address.
After sleuthing on Google, it looks like the official address is 245-06 Jericho Turnpike, Floral Park, NY 11001, USA.
I was able to figure out the address using Google Earth. :)

Thanks for finding the address, Lost!
Awesome. Thanks, Lost!
