We’re relaunching Cinema Treasures next week

posted by Patrick Crowley on May 14, 2011 at 9:35 am

We’re excited to announce we’re launching a new version of Cinema Treasures next week.

Over the weekend, we’ll be importing data from the existing website. To insure the import is successful, we’re turning off the ability to post new comments until next week.

See you next week!

Cheers,
Patrick and Ross

PS: Wouldn’t it be cool if you could add photos to Cinema Treasures? ;)

Test to see if I can still leave a comment here.

I hope you can preserve all of the old URLs since people have linked to them from all over the web.

Hey, Ron.

New comments are blocked on the rest of the website, but we are allowing them here.

And, yes, don’t worry about the old URLs. They will still work, so if anyone uses an old theater page link, they will be redirected to the new page.

About 2 weeks ago I advised CT I was not being notified on new comments on “my” theater pages I did not get a response. I hope I will receive notices about new comments when the new CT is up.

May everything go swimmingly smooth in this Transition.
And I’m looking forward to the potential to post photos with great anticipation.

Hi All,

“AGR” — please email our support email address after we relaunch.

Gary — thanks for the kind words. Fingers crossed!

This is all well and dandy but I have noticed that comments and theaters have disappeared from the last few ‘updates,’ like several of mine. I’ve had to repost them from memory especially the ones from the early ‘00s. Are you sure there isn’t going to be anything lost this time around? I’m not getting any younger to have to keep reposting things from 5, 6+ years ago…

:)

What would be really cool is to have theater locations show up in something like google maps. For example zoom to NYC and see where all the theaters are/were located.

Oh, I suppose we’ll get by for a few days without memories of the Adelphi and the 400 in Chicago, news of a small-town theater reopening in Oklahoma, minutiae about the projection booth of a GCC twin in Pennsylvania, new listings of a nickelodeon in Boston, a miners' hall in Wales and a multiplex on Guam.

BUT IT BETTER BE WORTH IT! (I bet that it will.)

And I hope this includes what I’ve been asking for, the ability to access the last 100 comments as we can for New Theatres and Updates.

It would be great If the site could have a feature where one could research the cinema by period. ie date opened [re-builds and major re moddeling could also be added]

Also in the 'search theatre'section could you put 'location’ instead of city because cinemas are also found in towns, villages and suburbs etc. best wishes.

“Go ahead, CT, make my day”… with another always helpful update. My morning tea is MUCH more enjoyable with the latest news from CT!

My only disappointment is when I up/download older dated articles, to view a photograph, it’s “oops, no longer available”. Am I correct in assuming it would take a great deal of time to delete these?

Any how, thanks to everyone for their consummate inputs. YOU “make my day”!!!

How about social media buttons on the website? That way people who “like” or tweet a theater page can recommend it to facebook and twitter users. By the way, if you have any questions, email me at , tweet me at twitter.com/kascnef82, and add me on facebook at facebook.com/kascnef82.

Wow! What’s the ETA? I’m looking forward to the upgrade. Curious to see how the “add a photo” feature will work. As always, many great thanks to Patrick and Ross for providing this site, free of subscription fees! Break a leg on the relaunch!
