The Town and Country was vandalized October 2022 is closed until further notice. Vandals broke into the concession building and projection room and damaged equipment as well as the expensive projectors. Fast forward to June 2023, a Facebook page has been created, “Show Up Big Country! (Get the Drive-In Thriving!)” by a group of local volunteers trying to get the property cleaned up, repairs made and donations to the drive in back up and running again. So far they have done a lot of cleanup work with the help of many volunteers.
I believe the N. Main St. at NE Mustang Drive and the 1100 S. Main St. address are two different drive-ins. One would be the Mustang Drive In and the other would be the Sands Drive In. Both operated by Wallace Theaters.

From the Cleveland TX Scanner News on Facebook it states that “After an 89-year run, the Texan Theater in Cleveland will cease operations as a movie theater on Sept. 8. The historic theater, the last of its kind still open in Liberty County and recognized with a Liberty County Historical Commission Marker on May 15, 2021 has been negatively impacted by the changes in movie-viewing habits in recent years and the arrival of muptiplex theaters in neighboring communities….

A Love’s Truck Stop is on the property. Wal-Mart was never built on this property.
Everything on the property has been cleared off and a storage facility is to be built.

The property is now home to the Redland RV Park.

As of August 2022 there is a public school on the property.
Classic Chevrolet car dealership is on the property now.
It appears that the antique business has left the building.
As of 2022, the property is still vacant and for sale.
A good address for the drive in would be 841 TX-114 East.
In 2021 new construction of a business started on the old drive in property.
At the present time the property is still an undeveloped open field.
