The Lam Amusement Company was based in the De Soto building in the early 1960s. Lam had houses in Cedartown, Hogansville, La Grange, Newman, Rockmart and Rome, all in GA, at that time.
This theater may have lasted longer than 1960, unless there were two Strands in Brownsville. The 1963 IMPA shows the theater as part of the Laskey Amusement Corp. The theater is no longer listed in the 1967 IMPA.

There doesn’t seem to be any recent news concerning demolition of the theater, so the assumption is that it still stands.

In this particular area, the poor homeless people are being moved out in favor of the non-poor non-homeless people.

The 514 building was a hotel but is now used for homeless services.
There are neon tubes on top of each letter now. I didn’t see those before.
