As of February 1, 2019 this theatre along with the rest of the Movie Tavern chain is now operated by Marcus Theatres. Marcus has elected to retain the Movie Tavern branding, referring to the newly acquired theatres as “Movie Tavern by Marcus”. The Movie Tavern chain was recently integrated into the Marcus website, and as such the theatre’s website is now www.marcustheatres.com. In early April of this year Marcus upgraded theatres 6 and 7 into Superscreen DLX auditoriums (which given the existing infrastructure primarily involved the installation of Dolby Atmos in these auditoriums).
Cineworld/Regal is in the process of instituting reserved seating in the 17 standard general admission auditoriums, which Fandango is showing as going into effect on October 5. This will not effect the IMAX and RPX, as those two auditoriums have been reserved seating for roughly a year and a half.
Cineworld/Regal did close this theatre as scheduled on August 16. Mall management has indicated NCG Cinemas will be taking over this complex immediately to begin an extensive renovation, with an expected completion/reopening sometime in January. http://wpdh.com/brand-new-movie-theater-coming-to-ulster-county/
The theatre was demolished this morning at the order of the Town of Salina. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2017/08/ex-cinema_north_theater_in_mattydale_demolished_after_sitting_vacant_for_decades.html#incart_river_home
This theatre has not been reopened. The currently operating version of Cinemapolis was a new build theatre located on the ground floor of the Green Street Garage (located directly behind the building housing this theatre).
That is correct. Satellite Cinemas Facebook page indicates that they reopened this theatre April 22 of last year, and as of this current week at least are still open and operating this theatre.
Regal has just updated their recliner retrofit listing to include this theatre, and I can only assume that the recliner project has started (as the theatre is currently showing as only having 10 screens operating).
Regal has completed the retrofit of this theatre with recliners.New seating capacity of this theatre is 1,385 broken down as follows:1-57,2-81,3-64,4(RPX)-220,5-108,6-89,7-83,8-61,9-70,10-100,11-97,12-54,13-53,14-70,15-81,16-97. Note that some auditoriums that were similar size pre-remodel are no longer because some auditoriums were re-seated with only 4 seats in the rear row (despite the appearance the space would fit a full row). In addition, all wall covering was replaced and is now the deep blue color (similar to the Regal logo) rather than the original Regal logo maroon color.
Regal’s website is indicating that are planning to install recliners in (presumably) the 15 non RPX auditoriums which will significantly reduce the theatre’s seating capacity (as I believe the largest non-RPX auditorium currently tops out at 175).
Albany Business Journal is reporting that a Billy Beez children’s play center is planned for the space that once housed this theatre, which has been mothballed since Regal elected to go with one theatre in March 2005. I too would highly doubt given the high cost that would be involved that the theatre has been demolished (other than whatever Regal took with them). http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/morning_call/2015/12/billy-beez-childrens-fun-center-coming-crossgates.html
Dipson has indicated via their website that the theatre will close for business following afternoon showings on 10/18 so they can convert all six auditoriums to recliners. They are expecting the conversion to be complete and the theatre reopened for business the following Friday 10/23.
Recently Zurich has finished replacing all of the complex’s original seats with recliners. I believe they indicated that the seats that are on the stadium decks in the auditoriums that have stadium seating were not converted to recliners (just the floor seating in those auditoriums).
I don’t know that after Dipson failed there already that they would be inclined to try again (especially since as previously indicated the complex only has 3 digital projectors for 8 screens). Perhaps if DDR gave them a sweetheart lease they would consider it. I don’t think it’s anything anyone would want as a first run theatre. With it being as close to the Galleria as it is I’d imagine you would have to share product with Regal, which would put the operator in much the same situation Dipson is in currently at McKinley (going second-run because they couldn’t get enough high grossing first run product away from Regal at Quaker Crossing).
