When I research Las Vegas history on microfilm/finche, I’m always running across ads from movies at this location, Skyway, and MGM Grand’s old grindhouse.
This place irks me. I don’t like Clark County entities claiming to be Las Vegas.
Too far to pay for the gas to see a movie from my house. If you must know, I live a mile from the Suncoast and Village Square theaters. I prefer to walk.
Saw over 50+ movies here (almost beating out my viewings at Torrey Pine and Mountain View), but I can only recall Batman, Big Hit, Kindergarten Cop, Kiss of Death, Back to the Future III … everything else is just faded memories. I used to shop at Kool Kollectibles, but after the theater closed and they opened the other locations, the owners of Kool Kollectibles accused every single customer of being a thief, and would not let a customer browse in peace at the large comic book selection. And they wonder why they went out of business. For the record, the owners of Kool Kollectibles claimed he owned the Red Rock Theater lot and building.
I can’t recall all of the movies I’ve seen at this theater. Some were second viewings, like GoldenEye and Pulp Fiction, and some were just movies I missed. Since I was within biking distance, as a child, and the movies were a dollar, I’ve seen a good many movies here, and pumped a good many quarters into the arcade machines. Cool Runnings, Jurassic Park, Last Boy Scout, just to name a small slim few.
Oh, Rocky Horror. From age 12 to 17 or 18 I used to go to the weekly showings of Rocky Horror at this theater. I learned all kind of bad things from the people at this showings (I mean, bad behavior like Dazed and Confused, which I saw at Torrey Pines). I also remember how dumb the audience became, making me stop coming to the Rocky Horror showings.
While I did visit this theater location in the 80s and 90s, I don’t recall what I may have seen.
I do know I saw Scary Movie at this theater, then drove to the Walmart up the street and bought it. I also saw Marmaduke and one other film. And you can find me, every first Saturday of the month, doing the Rocky Horror thing! Let’s do the Time Warp again!
First movie I saw here was End of Days. All during college, I dated a nutty heiress, and since this theater had like 3 AM late late late showings, I was always dragged out to those. I recall seeing many movies here, but only can recall End of Days.
A key to me recalling correctly is my personal LaserDisc/DVD/Blu-Ray collection. If I saw a movie at a theater, most likely, I own a copy of it. If I didn’t, I usually have a TV recording or a VHS tape.
I think I saw one of the Harry Potters here, and some kind of superhero movie.
Let’s see how many movies I’ve seen here: A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights, The Naked Gun, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Batman Returns (I think), Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Pulp Fiction, Stargate, Batman Forever, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Blade, and Saving Private Ryan. I’m sure I’ve seen other movies at this particular theater, but these are just faded memories. I remember when the theater was closed and a grocery store/shopping center was built. I was a fire safety tech., and I remember telling the boss to do the businesses himself, I’d have no part of it. Strange to have loyalty to theater.

So that’s what happened to this theater. Well, I’ll be…
Oh, only movie I ever walked out on I saw at this theater: D2

This is my wife’s other favorite theater. See my post at West Winds. My brain could be merging the two theaters together, too.
