Movie Tickets is now displaying the theatre as Rave 18. Also, Rave has put out their first official LA Times ad branding the theatre as Rave 18. I suspect the in theatre signage has already been changed as well. I’ll verify sometime this weekend.
Rave or Regal. The emphasis on digital projection & 3D screens is a dead giveaway to either place. I hope Regal wins…further reason to stay the BLANK away from this theatre!
I’d guess that the same operator for the new place may very well operate the theatre that’s part of the Boulevards At South Bay development project that’s currently being built in Carson at the 405 Freeway & Avalon Blvd.
So far this is one of the worst summers ever. Even Iron Man 2 was just a B+. I expect Toy Story 3 & Inception to be the highest grossing flicks of the summer.
John J. Fink: The Back Up Plan & The Losers were April titles. Flicks from April aren’t classified as summer movies.
Saw (the AWFUL!) Get Him To The Greek here on Friday 6/4. More management changes taking shape. Exterior/interior signs & tickets still say Bridge. Concessions still Pepsi…
…but Rave’s policy trailer now runs before the trailers/feature. I asked someone at Guest Services & they indicated that the signs would be switched up this month.
Saw (ahem!) Sex And The City 2 here on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Presentation still up to standards & still THX certified. Of course, the only time the surrounds got any action in a flick like this were in a (ridiculous) wedding scene featuring Liza Minneli and when the girls sung “I Am Woman” in a karaoke bar.
Saw it at Wehrenberg’s Creve Coeur Cinema (St. Louis County) during the summer following 1st grade. What’s INTERESTING is that I didn’t see the flick till the middle of it’s run – sometime in June or July. School was out and I was staying at my (FAVORITE!) aunt’s house for the early part of summer vacation. She promised me day in and day out that we would go see it but we never made it.
I went back home and one morning my mom told me to get dressed & get ready to go. She WOULD NOT TELL ME where we were going. We get in the car and she’s driving along not saying a word. Once I saw the Creve Coeur marquee (posted on the side of the building) and our car making that familiar right turn to the theatre parking lot, I lit up like a firecracker! She got me GOOD!
Last visited The Bridge for Iron Man 2 IMAX. They were still serving Pepsi & using NA popcorn boxes, cups, etc. Of course, that was 2 weeks ago. A lot may have changed in that short amount of time. I don’t plan on going back there till Toy Story 3 opens (mid June).
I DO pass the theatre on the 405 Freeway and will get a clear glimpse of any changes in signs/branding. I’ll report what I see when changes are made.
Iron Man 2 kicked butt in the Dome for its maiden midnight show. Robert Downey Jr. & Jon Favreau introduced the screening. Needless to say, we all had a geekgasm!
Picture/sound were up to the usual high standards.

They did new construction to the right side of the complex, adding 3 (SHOEBOX!) stadium seating auditoriums.
Also, the theatre will close on Sunday 6/13.

To be specific, I meant “What stores within the currently standing shopping center is occupying the space now?”

LA Times article indicates that MJT will be upgraded…not necessarily closed.
MAGIC JOHNSON THEATERS IS CLOSING???
End of an era. Will probably never visit the Beverly Center again. Not even for dinner.
The “replacement” screen at Seattle Cinerama is not flat. It is curved. I saw the screen for myself back in Christmas 2005 during a visit out there.
End of an era. Glad I was able to make there earlier this year.

cough-SPIN!-cough
Just saw the schedule for Friday. Prince of Persia IS NOT playing at this theatre in DBOX or any other shape or form.
How in the heck did they convert that place to 4 screens?
CWalczak: Irvin Kershner was the director. Lawrence Kasdan was co-writer.

According to their LA Times ad, Rave 18 (still being advertised as The Bridge) is now all DP…except for the (TRUE!) IMAX auditorium.

Santa Barbara just made my “Top 5 Places To Travel” list! :)
Wow! I must (finally) take a trip to Santa Barbara soon!
Um, Justin. Miramax is not dead. In fact, the Weinsteins are currently in fierce negotiations to buy it back from Disney.
Paramount is one of EPIX’s co-founders along with Liongate and (the soon to be put out of their misery for good) MGM.
