Also enjoyed the photo story as I didn’t know that Jerry Maren went on to become Buster Brown! More neat trivia!

Really enjoyed the Rockefeller letter! Thanks!

Thanks Dorothy from Oz for your interesing RCMH Ringo story! The Wizard of Oz was recently on TV and I just happened to catch the part where Judy G. sings Over the Rainbow…a very special moment in a very special movie!

“There were once lights at every seat so you could read the program.” A very interesting bit of RCMH trivia! Thanks Myron and to all who have contributed their RCMH memories!

Yes, Highlands exudes a small town atmosphere and is a special NC community with (I might add) many Florida tags especially in the summer months!

Now that I’ve found this ‘gem’ I plan to pay it a visit in the near future!

Thanks to the founders of this site as I was thrilled to see that you have posted my Fox comments concerning the 75th anniversary celebration on Dec. 26th along with a wonderful color postcard photo. I hope to attend the event on Sunday!

Will do…for sure! It’s not a matter of IF, but WHEN and this time I will be entering the theatre, too! ;–)

Yes, “a likely story one could say”. I have been to productions at the present Erie Playhouse Erie PA location and didn’t know that “the Erie Playhouse used this theater as its home” at one time.

A former theatre manager would probably know how rare these Norelco AAll 70mm projectors are plus the magnetic stereo sound!

Nice to see an old drive-in theatre still up and running! Congrats to Kerzan’s grandaughter for keeping her grandparent’s dream alive!

Bob Ditt: Yes, the great actor James Stewart is originally from Indiana, PA. I don’t know if there is a festival surrounding his name, but do know that there is one in the town that James Dean is orginally from in the State of Indiana. I don’t recall the town name at the moment though.

Thanks again. We plan to make a trip to the town in June for their annual Laurel Festival where my husband and I met! At this time we will check out the theatre. In fact, several summers ago we did visit the town and during a walk down main street my husband stopped at the theatre and got to see inside (beyond the lobby area)though I didn’t see it as I was, unfortunately, elsewhere.

I wonder what the style was if it, in fact, was a former house or hotel? It is located in the middle of the block and not on a corner.

My husband believes that as you walked to your seat the ceiling got lower thus the “incline” that you walk up to get to the seats.

Thanks so very much Lost Memory….I’d say your resource memory is quite good though. I will relay all of this to my ‘other half’! Glad to read that the theatre has been designated ‘a historical building’! The town pop. is small about 3,500 and could use a main streethometown theatre, again.

This is the second theatre that I have come across in my research that is now an Ace Hardware store. The other one is in Hartwell GA.

William: If you have information about the Irving and your experience as an usher, please add it to the list under Add a Theatre…it’s easy.

Ben: Congratuations upon the purchase of this theatre. It’s too bad that the Corvette meet, Bloomington Gold doesn’t meet in Bloomington anymore as your theatre would have been a great night out for the Corvette owners! I see you are showing Polar Express and Ray…both great movies, but we recently saw Polar Express in 3D and, in my opinion, that is the ONLY way to see THAT movie!

Patsy commented about Florida Theatre on Dec 22, 2004 at 7:52 pm

Steven W: Thanks for the Florida Theatre/Hollywood FL photos, but so sad that an art deco theatre such as that one in ‘art deco-land’ would be gone today…i.e. the art deco section on Collins Avenue in nearby Miami Beach. It would blend right in if it were around today!

I just spoke with a friend who told me about this theatre so I then looked here and found it! Great find!

And if you have any more info on the builder, John H. Carr please advise as he may have been involved with other PA area theatres. My husband thanks you! ;–)

Thanks for the additional information. My husband is from Brookville and remembers going to that theatre. Do you have a source book that you refer to or are you from the general area?

Patsy commented about Radio City Music Hall on Dec 22, 2004 at 7:17 pm

My RCMH interest and subsequent questions have certainly stirred up alot of commentary which is great so I thank all who have contributed to this theatre page as there is only ONE Radio City Music Hall! And if anyone is with 100 miles of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta the place to be on December 26th is THAT theatre for the special open house to commemorate the Fabulous Fox’s 75th anniversary! If anyone does go, please post your thoughts on the Fox page as we’d all love to read them! Thanks.
