Sam-e: I had your email at one time and wanted to discuss former Buffalo theatres with you so will mention it here in the hopes that you read this. My email is on my profile page so if you want to contact me, please do so…..Richard Grow and E. Summer, too.
JW and Michael C: I dont know if you are in the Buffalo area, but today on WBEN radio, the a.m. talk show host asked his listening audience to call in and and tell what they remember about things in Buffalo that are gone such as restaurants, businesses, parks and THEATRES! I sent the host an email to tell him about CT as there are over 20 Buffalo theatres listed. One person called in and mentioned the Century, but there were many more in and around the town! I have plans to tour the western NY/PA/OH areas this summer to find old theatres or former locations as it’s interesting to see what is at certain locations now (though it can be very frustrating and very sad)if a particular theatre is gone as is the case with the Century.
I have contacted an Erie man who tells me that the Majestic was on Parade Street, but it may be more than ‘closed’ as listed on Cinema Tour.com It may have been torn down by now! :–(
Does anyone have information on the Majestic Theatre that was in Erie PA dating back to 1907? I have found a Cinema Tour photo, but not much else. It was a beautiful building and one that I would like to locate IF it still exists! Thanks.
Sounds like the name Eberson and Frank Lloyd Wright are in the same category of architectural/historical importance! I’m a follower of both of these great visionaries. Would also include E.B. Green and Stickley of the arts and craft movement, too.
This theatre has certainly made national news with it being mentioned on the ABC Primetime show, Fallen Idol! The style is listed as ‘unknown’, but it appears to have an atmospheric interior.
Henry: A friend of mine in Charlotte NC knew Mr. VanCamp and I recently met the current organist during the 75th anniversary celebration on December 26th, 2004.
What was the year this theatre opened and I wonder if it could be returned to a single screen cinema?

New Castle is the home of Zambelli Fireworks so I would like to think that that major company could/would lend their financial support to the restoration of the Castle Theatre!
A VERY good article and thanks so very much for sharing it with us! My favorite theatre architect is John Eberson and my favorite decor is atmospheric and art deco so found your article of great interest!
Gary: Interesting website that is full of information and great photos! The City of Flint is fortunate to have an Eberson /atmospheric theatre downtown. Another example is the Town of Butler PA where there was an Eberson/art deco theatre, but it no longer exists….a PNC bank can be found there now!

Yes, I am the author of the published letter! Thanks for telling me!
I just tried calling the number given on this link and it has been disconnected!
Jeff: I plan to visit the former Folly Theatre in Erie tomorrow. If you can provide additional information, that would be great!
TC: Thanks so very much for posting the reopening article. I hope to see this restored theatre whenever I find myself in Knoxville TN!

I was told there was a downtown theatre in Kane. Does anyone know more about this one?
Darren: Thank you for taking the time to give us a tour of your “grand” theatre! Next time we’ll check out the Warner Brothers brass coat of arms!
John: I see on your profile page that you are in Hermitage PA which is near Sharon PA. What is the current status with the Columbia Theatre?
Henry: A friend of mine in Charlotte NC knew Mr. VanCamp and I recently met the current organist during the 75th anniversary celebration on December 26th, 2004.

Is this theatre atmospheric? On the official website the color photo looks like it may be atmospheric?
GREAT PHOTOS!

“Eberson’s magic lives on.” What a wonderful quote to read and bears repeating! Congrats to Tampa and all who cared enough!
