Maybe because we had more real theatres, just kidding.Yes Mike Crescent Amusement Company built many of them including the CRESCENT or LOEWS CRESCENT as I know it,their office was in the Crescent bulding they built many theatres in Nashville and other places, and by the way all of these drive-ins are long gone.At one time they owned most the theatres in Tennessee, wish I had more info on them.
Patsy this almost always happens, parking lots are big money makers for the owners and they run the parking lot for 10 to 20 years and use their profits to build something else or sale the land. This happens in Nashville I know all the time.
The Belle Meade Theatre was the sister theatre to the Melrose Theatre on Franklin Road built and opened at the same time. The Melrose was later known as the LOEWS MELROSE,got my first real job as a doorman for LOEWS in 1973 @ $1.50 a hour, wow big money.
The Belle Meade Theatre in Nashville,Tennessee is a bookstore now but still has the lobby, signboards, and vertical sign in place, the auditorium was torn down a few years ago.
