in reply to edward, it seems like all multi-plexes are like that, bad managment, bad acoustics, no spectacular deco..
Such a shame….
Turning 90!
Let us know of updates DSTNE!
Oddly enough I find that this picture is of the theater, even though the site is the official site for the 5 Drive-In in Ontario
Is it still open?
I also found the Radio City, and Garricfk Theater, I am sure there is more
I can confirm when it closed in Feb. they were beginning to haul out seats, it doesnt look good, something must be done!
This will tkae you to a drawing of the Palmer Park
I wish someone had picturs of it from before or now, It makes you wonder what it really looks like from the way the exterior looks.
Anyone have any pictures of it when it was Carr’s or a flea market? I am curious whether it could have been restored and what it would have looked like with a department store occupying it.
Some Vintage Photos: Grand Opening Later Exterior Shot Interior Shot
Yes great pictures they really are strong on color. So sad, am I correct they left the seats in as I may see from the picture?
STOP THE DEMO!
On my photo “drive-by” of Downtown Detroit and Grand River I seen the Civic and snapped to pics. Didn’t get a chance to go inside but I hope I do, based on the marquee I think this must be a real gem on the inside also. here are some pics: http://detroit.snweb.org/images/civic1.gif http://detroit.snweb.org/images/civic2.gif
Truely looks salavageable to me, the facade still looks fresh. Demo ceromony..I wonder who thought of that. it is weird.
great maybe I’ll come too :D

These huge shoebox megaplexs are going to eventually kill off our classic palaces, we need to stop this.
Easly the most depressing pic on Cinema Treasures. :( Were the screens shoeboxish or the good kind?
DonF check with Preservation Wayne about the tours at http://www.preservationwayne.org/
