I wonder what ‘phoenix’ will arise from the ashes?
Lovely photos Andy

All the Best.
Thanks for taking and posting the sad images Andy – this was certainly one which should not have fallen, one of the very few distinguished buildings left in Salford.
I quite agree, i am constantly finding out about old cinemas and theatres that once stood and find it chilling that good buildings with heritage are and have been erased. The Uk is generally a place with a lot of heritage, but im afraid that we will lose it as so called progress comes along with demolition ball! Salford in particular had so many cinemas but hardly any stand now.
Wonderful photos, Andy. Having taken pictures a couple of years ago of the demolition of one of our local theaters, I can appreciate the risk you took from possible falling debris. Thanks for submitting them.
Cheers Klebrun
Are your photos available for me to see?
Regards
Andy
I’ll email you a couple of them, Andy.
Cheers
Yes great pictures they really are strong on color. So sad, am I correct they left the seats in as I may see from the picture?
Hi Neo
I don’t know, when i was on site i noticed a lot of seats strewn around, but they were bingo seats not the original seats. I did look around for any signs of original seating as i would have liked a couple for my home cinema.
Andy:
Any photos of the original interior available anywhere?
Thanks
Martin
Hi Martin
I have a few of it when it was a bingo hall, if anyone else has any original pictures im sure we would all like to see them.
Regards Andy
Here is a link which has a few interior pictures of it: View link
Andy:
Thanks for the Manchester site. I saw the interior shot on the Ambassador website but this site gives a much better impression.
Too bad another one has gone. This one looked like it was worth saving for sure.
Martin Chapman.
Wow. Sad, breaks my heart. I have often pondered the fate of many theatres. Our local theatre building saw a video store spring up next door about the time it closed its doors in 1967. The City of Port St. Joe reportedly at one time considered demolishing the Port Theatre, due to lack of use (It was called a white elephant!) but they were concerned about damaging nearby buildings (the Port Theatre is about 40' high). Thankfully, it is now in use, though not as a theatre (YET).
I commend you for your diligence to keep shooting the photos. Must have been painful!
Hi
Yes it was very moving, it was like been at a funeral, i felt almost irreverent photographing it.
Flats are now built on the site, i wonder if the residents know what went community suffered to get them?
